Treasure Island and O’Shea's: Poker Rooms Coming Soon?
Received a flurry of reports this past week that poker rooms are planned at Treasure Island (TI), and O’Shea’s. Nothing confirmed yet.

Summary: Received a flurry of reports this past week that poker rooms are planned at Treasure Island (TI), and O’Shea’s. Nothing confirmed yet.
Content: Treasure Island, or “ti” if you’re in the cool crowd, may be opening a poker room soon. I received several emails this past week from people who have heard “rumors”, and at least one source claims to have inside knowledge. The reports indicate that a poker room at Treasure Island could open as early as March, 2006. I have not received any information regarding the size or location inside the casino of this potential poker room.
A poker room at Treasure Island makes sense. I don’t think that the poker market in Las Vegas has quite reached its peak. And, as long as poker players continue to visit Las Vegas, it really doesn’t make any sense for a casino to let its guests venture off the property to find a poker game. That poker player may wind up at a competitor’s poker room, and no smart casino executive wants that to happen. There are definitely guests at Treasure Island looking for a poker game, and Treasure Island would be wise not to let those players get away.
Another email I received this week reported that O’Shea’s Casino may be opening a poker room. You’re probably not familiar with this little place. O’Shea’s is a very small casino, just North of Flamingo (wedged between Imperial Palace and Flamingo). O'Shea's is known mostly for its cheap beer and dollar blackjack tables.
If management at this little casino drops a few poker tables on the casino floor I expect them to spread low-limit Hold’em games only. And I really can’t see this place having more than three or four tables max.
Update: I just spoke to a source inside O'Shea's that confirmed there have been discussions about adding at least two poker tables. This source stated that the tables would probably spread sit-n-go style games. It is still unknown when the poker tables may be added.
Thanks very much to the sources that provided these tips.
If you have any additional information about planned poker rooms at Treasure Island or O'Shea's, or news about any other poker room in Las Vegas, please send an e-mail to info@allvegaspoker.com. All sources are confidential.
