The only problem with this room is some of the managers/floors on duty have zero clue what is going on.

Story: 2 weeks ago had a friend in town and he wanted to check out the new 'Rock, so we went up there to play 6/12.

9 names on the 6/12 list, so we both get on the list, now 11 of us. Another gentleman got on the list as well, so 12 total.

The floor calls over the PA system that they are going to call off the names for 6/12 and open the tables. ALL, yes, ALL 12 of us are there.

So we ask him what table, he says he can't open the game. Ok, the dealers are doing 1 and 2 table strings, so we're confused and I ask him why he can't open the game after asking if all those people wanted to play.

The floor man tells us that 2 of the players are on the 10/20 list (which hasn't moved in 2 hours), and 1 is on the 2/5 NL list and if those 3 people leave we'll only have 8 or 9 people and be short handed.

WTF!! 8 or 9 is short handed? Where the hell did this guy learn how to floor a room?

My friend and I offered to play 5 or 6 handed to get it going, and he declined saying they don't like to spread games that will go short handed. Ok, wtf, every day on grave games go short handed, so he's saying they'd rather not spread any games because they might go short handed sometime later. Give me a F'in break.

We take seats in 4/8 when our names come up. 2 hours later the floor calls off the list for 6/12 Holdem again. This time he calls 19 names and for everyone who wants to play head to table XX. WTF are you calling 19 names and first come first serves BS? We were on the list before these other people yet now it's first come first serve?? 15 of those players show up at the table. Needless to say, the manager had no idea who was who and how to handle the situation after several of those players just left their previous games and the other floor/brush were filling those seats.

We promptly left and I will not be returning to Red Rock any time soon. It doesn't help those had to be the tightest nittiest low limit games I've ever seen in my life short of playing at the Orleans. These players are all sitting there logging in hours for the next great freeroll and passing around blinds.

I Hear ya. Sounds like a similar issue I had at GVR once. Sounds like the management is about the same.

Personally, I am not a fan of Stations rooms in general. I checked out RR when it first opened, and although it is the nicest of the Stations rooms, I will not play there.

You should post this story on the 2+2 board under the Venetian Poker Room thread. There is a RR fanboy there that thinks it is Gods gift to poker rooms (which is pretty much what I think about Venetian, but at least I admit it). ;)

I actually like this place. It does get a fair share of quality players but with that I can read them much better. I know what their bets are. I like the 1-2 no limit table over there. It is a nice place also. I have noticed a lot of regulars and some might call me that from time to time. Some of these regulars aren't very good in my book either.

What's the latest on RR? I live just down Charleston and it would be a convenient place to play. What's the comp rate? Tables?

Has the management gotten better?

Comp rate is the same as all other station casinos. 1.00/hour. They also rake the jackpot 1.00 at 10.00 pot size which is insane when you really get down to nitty gritty type stuff.

As for management, I'm sure the above story was just an inexperienced floor as I've heard mostly positive reviews about the joint.

In RR yesterday for the buffet. (Gotta give this one a go if you haven't!)

The poker room was hopping at 10 a.m on a Sunday. Six, seven tables going. Very impressive. (Hell, the whole place impressed me.)

Anyone heard they've got a 500K freeroll coming up? 75 hours through Sept? Too many for me, sadly, but you full-timers should be there!

First, I was not impressed with that Buffet.

Second, it's labor day weekend. Everyone was busy all day sat/sun.

Third, everyone's heard about that freeroll because they do these 2-3x a year and it was in every poker magazine imagineable, as well as other print advertising and tv spots. :D
