I've come to like this room, it's a tough place to make a killing but you can grind out a nice profit playing steady tight-aggressive poker. The room is large and good spacing between tables. I'd recommend playing after dark, the day crowd is mostly rock locals. It's one of my favorite places to book a room & play. The hotel rooms are spacious and priced right and this room is jumping at night!

This place is one of three poker rooms in Vegas I have never played in, though I have heard lots of stuff from others.
Sounds like a fairly typical (albeit large) locals poker room. A little too Stationesque for me.
I have played at their sister property (the Gold Coast) a few times, due to thier low buy in tournies, but don't know if I will ever make it to the Orleans. Just seems like there is easier money to be made elsewhere.

I'm 51, and there are still too many Grandpa Simpson clones here for my taste, many grumpy and argumentative locals during the weekdays. The dealer never makes a correct ruling, according to them, so expect any dispute to take five minutes while the players tell the floor how wrong he is, and then happily discuss the improper ruling for the next hour or so.
On the plus side, if you've been getting your brains beat in the Strip rooms by having your preflop capped action with AA or KK killed by five mutts who kept calling with 10-4 suited and hit their two pair, this is a good place to restore your sanity, and you get .75 per hour good for food comps, even at the Subway.

Good for you! It's always refreshing to run into a local that's not grumpy and whiny at the poker table. I'm only 23, so obviously that type of player and myself don't mix well, even though I'd consider myself quite easy to get along with. I love playing poker with older ladies/gentlemen because much of the time they are really just trying to have a good time rather than be cocky and try to prove that they belong on the WPT. In the end poker IS about having fun and many of these locals can't seem to understand that concept. Glad to see you're not one of them!

Are you getting that information from the main site? If so, I believe it is at least a few years old. I am not 100% sure, but I would assume there are now a few NL games running.

Will be staying here in November. So NL games are only on the weekends?
Usually 1 or 2 NL games can be found. I've seen 2/5 NL one time there, so don't expect it to be running normally, but 1/2 is common in basically every room now, except Palace Station, Sun Coast, Sahara, Tuscany, and a couple others.

Stabbing, thanks for the locals comment, but I am a tourist (and happy to act like one if it brands me as a poor poker player ).
My wife and I just got back from three days at Orleans, and I have to radically revise my assessment of the play in the room. It's gone way downhill, as an example from a 4/8 limit game, my AA got cracked by a board four flush, not a problem, but there were five players at the end with betting capped preflop and on a very harmless flop....the winning flush was from someone who held 4-2 x and bet his four high flush on the end, called by all but me. No one else had better than a pair of 10's. This isn't meant as a bad beat post, as I'm way over bad beats, but to retract my earlier praise of the room as decent players, if not decent people. It's just as weird as any strip casino, but less fun.

Not a bad beat post? Could have fooled me after that first line [/b]
