Harrahs Poker Room

Postby LasVegasMichael on Sat Jul 15, 2006 7:27 am

This thread is for general discussion/chat about the Harrahs poker room. We are pleased to have staff support from the Harrahs poker room on our forum.

Regularly spreads: 1/2NL ($60 Min/$300 Max),
Tables: 12

Autoshufflers: YES (10 of 12 tables)

Jackpots: YES ($1 drop on $10)

Tableside Food Service/Specialty Cocktails: YES

A poker room menu is available and food can be ordered from the brush/floorman. The food is delivered tableside, and comps or chips/cash can be used to pay.

For cocktails, Red Bull (Regular and Sugar Free) is available, and is served in the can upon request. Frozen drinks as well as most premium labels are available to poker room customers (no cocktail restrictions to poker players versus the rest of the casino).

Rake: 10%/$5 max plus $1 jackpot when pot reaches $10 (No Flop, No Drop)

High Hand Jackpots: YES

Comps: $1 per hour on your Harrahs Total Rewards Card.

Players must get the card printed at the Total Rewards counter located outside of the poker room. Only an ID is required to get a card. Comps are valid at all Harrahs properties, and can be used in the gift shop or toward your room rate. There is no maximum to how many comps you can earn in one day or trip. They are available for use within 24-48 hours of earning them. Comp dollars are accumulated through cash game and tournament play. Harrahs is the only room to offer $1 per hour comps on tournament play in addition to cash game play.

Comps from Harrahs go directly to your players card, and can be used toward your hotel bill.

Table Based Comp Tracking: YES, using the Genesis Bravo system

Comps are tracked at the table. Waitlist is electronic.

Phone: 702-369-5040

You can call ahead to get on the waiting list/interest list for any game. Call ins are valid for one hour.

Poker Room Location: The Harrahs poker room is located on the southwest side of the casino, directly adjacent to the Race and Sportsbook. It is a completely enclosed room, with glass door entry from the north and west sides. Directly outside of the westside entry way is an outside exit that leads to the Carnival Court music venue (due to the glass enclosure, noise from outside of the room is a moot issue).

Poker Room Rates: Currently, Harrahs does not offer poker room rates, but casino rates booked with the Harrahs Total Rewards card are offered, and do not have an hours requirement to qualify.

The Total Rewards Card comps earned in the poker room can be used toward your hotel room bill.

Tournaments: Harrahs offers daily tournaments. Please see the AVP Tournament Database for all information on the Harrahs Tournaments:

I have played here a few times. Although I liked the enclosed room atmosphere, it really is just like any other middle market room (reminds me of Rio, Aladdin, Tropicana, etc).

However, the advantage seems to be with the heavy tourist base that they have. With the exception of the tournaments, the tourist base makes strong hands even more profitable then normal.

Soft room, some jackpot hands

Postby JohnDz on Thu Jul 27, 2006 12:03 pm

I've played the 3/6 game here a few times in the last few months and have never failied to have a profitable session. I'm a tourist, but a frequent player, and I had to stop a few times and re-examine the board to make sure I wasn't really missing something; I had QQ, flopped the set, and kept getting re-raised by one player who turned out to have AK for just a pair of kings...but I was sure I was missing a straight or flush due to his persistence. He got very mad that I not only kept re-raising but won the pot.

The dealers are very good, the managment is good at enforcing the rules fairly (a local got irritated that no exception was made for him talking on two cell phones during a hand, and one conversation was in Spanish, great multitasking). They do have high hand jackpots for quads or better.

A few problems with the room, though. The HVAC is unrlieable at times, the temperature varied from upper 80's to stone cold a lot. The noise from the Carnaval Court outside is bad at times, and the room booms with the low frequencies. Finally, don't order off the poker room menu. It's overpiiced to start with ($9 for a cheeseburger with fries), and they add room service fees for a total cost of about $15 fo4r a pretty mediocre burger. Pick up and go eat if you play long hours (I usually play for five hours or more at a time, so I tend to get at least one meal during my sessions).

My brother and I were on our way to play and watch the Superbowl at Caesar's, and decided to have lunch at Toby Keith's. As we wound up running late, we decided to park in Harrah's room for the game. I liked the room, the dealers were competent, and the game was soft enough, but at least at that time, a little tougher than what you'd normally find in a 1/2nl game on the Strip.

In terms of the food service mentioned above, they may have fixed that, a guy at our table ordered food and It seemed to be reasonably priced.

Don't know if this is the norm or not, but played there today on a new table being opened up.

I chose the 4 seat.
At one point, Seat 1, 2, 3, and 5 were all locals/regulars.

Seat 2 busted and was replaced with another regular.

Also, before I forget:

While playing today and talking to some of the dealers, they have been tryign to get a 1/2 PLO game going and run it as often as possible.

The one dealer said that thus far when it starts up, it usually only lasts for about half an hour before breaking.

Unfortunately it never got running while I was there.

Harrahs

Postby oscar_buzz on Sat Mar 10, 2007 7:59 am

My plane was late and was going to play a different tourny but went to Harrahs and won it. Found out that if i won another one, id be in a WSOP freeroll for a seat to the big one. Well I won that one and am headed back in April for the big one into WSOP. Nice room. I agree with the other posts about size and noise. GOOD action with big bets from poor players. Be patient and you'll do just fine. Wish me luck in april.

The fields ranged from 3-5 tables. Nothing too tazing and nice payouts of over 900 for each of my wins. I was very lucky to stumble across all vegas nad the tourny list. Had it printed out and really made choosing nice.

Harrah's room and tourney's

Postby bp109632 on Wed Apr 04, 2007 12:21 am

I will be in vegas in May and was wondering about the room at Harah's. Is the 11:30pm tourney any good? How about the room in general? I am interested in the no limit $1/$2 or $1/$3? I prefer to play late in the evening until early in the morning and was wondering if the action was any good or if it's all in every hand?!!

Harrahs

Postby oscar_buzz on Wed Apr 04, 2007 7:22 am

The room was kinda quiet during the day. I played all night at Wynn and Riviera ( I know, very different) The tourneys at Harrahs had nice payouts and a limited number of players. I won a couple and now am in the invitational next weekend to get into the WSOP, so biased I am towards Harrahs.

I played here for about an hour, maybe longer before my Sahara tourny at 7 pm. It was rather quite at the 1/2 NL game as we were shorthanded. One player straddled everytime and was lucky enough to catch AA at the straddle spot and take QQ all in for about $250!! I think it was a losing session of about $20 while I was here. Caught way too many unplayable rag hands and usualy limp hands were to expensive to call.

Service was ok, not great. Competition was a bit tough. Seemed like a number of locals at the table. Probably wont be back.

casino families working together. what i am refering to is can i combine my comp hours together as in my bally hours plus my flamingo hours plus my harrahs to get say a $25 comp or do i have to take my $8 comp at ballys,$12 comp at the flamingo and my $5 comp at harrahs? i understand all casinos want thier comps to stay in their casinos but as a "family" they would get the comp dollars back. LVM can you see this ever hapening? can anyone see this occuring?

Nope. All Harrahs and MGM property comps are independant to the casino you earn them in. Stations is the only one that is network wide.

I've pulled my comps instantly at many places, at Harrah's you're told you have to wait up to 36 hours for them to be valid. I think this is crap, it looks like you're avoiding giving comps to people who don't go to vegas often altogether.

That said, I still like this room.

Just a heads-up...the rake at Harrah's has gone up to $5. I called them and confirmed this with the floorperson. I've heard the other Harrah's properties (except Caesar's) are doing the same thing.
