Anyone play at the new Rio poker room yet? How are the games? Nits controlling it? etc.

I played there a few months ago while the remodeling was going on, and the nits where a plenty.

I posted a review at AVP about it, and have since gone back just to take a look. For being the host casino of the WSOP, it is a pretty pathetic room, including the staff and clientele. Really, the casino that hosts the WSOP should have a killer room (like Binions used to). At the very minimum, Harrahs should move the WSOP to Caesars, since it is their "Premier Property" and they have a decent/large respectable poker room.

I agree; while wandering around the Rio during the Series I kept saying to myself, "Why is this not at Caesars?" I'm sure Harrah's has some good reason for holding it at the Rio, but I'd like to see it at Caesars.

Maybe it's because of convention space? Just a thought. Don't really know the convention situation at Caeser's. Do they have a lot? The Rio has a ton, so maybe that's why.

That's my guess, otherwise I see no other reason for the WSOP to be at the Rio.

Basically, they have no need to get more people at Caesar's Palace, it sells it self. Rio has typically underperformed since being bought by Harrah's, hence the awesome buffets, free show, etc. to attract people away from the strip. Apparently people don't think singing/dancing men are a good reason to stray away from the strip(!). I'd personally never go to Rio unless it was for the buffet or WSOP.

What exactly is a nit?

From the Pokertips.com Poker Glossary:

Nit
Also known as: Rock.

A nit is a tight-passive player that avoids confrontations. Typically, the term nit is used when this type of passive player plays in a pot-limit or no-limit game. Nits tend to avoid big pots and do not like to gamble.
+++++++++

A rather new poker term, it basically means a weak tight player, and rather nit picky about things as well. In Vegas, they are usually older, and often locals.

Another version:

Nit = someone you really dont care to have at a table. They can be very grumpy and add nothing to the overall playing experience except to complain about every little thing, ask for deck changes, seat changes, setup changes, ect... when they aren't winning every hand. Yet they never play one.
