This happend two weeks ago at the 1-2nl table next to mine at a local casino. It's not a typical bad beat because the best hand led the entire way, but it did qualify for a bad beat jackpot. One player had pocket 10's and the other had pocket 8's. The flop came 10,10,8. Both players went all in. I heard everyone at the table yelling for an 8. I heard a roar at the table, and the case 8 came on the river, and the table won the jackpot. It had already been won a couple days earlier so it was only up to $6,500. That was the first time I had ever witnessed a bad beat jackpot.

I have three bad beats that I remember. The first two, I lost to one outers both times, and I remember them because it happened on consecutive days.

I have KK raise to 15.. get two callers. Flop is 77 Rag.. (Can't remember) I check, button bets 30.. I call.. other player folds.. Turn is K... I check button bets... I push all in.. he calls and river is 7... he has quad 7's..
Next day I flop the nut flush and another player flops a flush with a gut shot straight flush draw and hits it on the turn (I smelled something fishy here so just check called all the way to the river)

The third one I remember like it was yesterday even though it happened 18 years ago... It was in California, where there was a bad beat with Aces full losing to Quads.
I have 88.. call a raise with 4-5 players. Flop is A 10 8... it is capped on the flop (yes limit coz that was what was mostly played in those days) only me, the original raiser, and another player call.. ( with me and the original raiser doing the action)
Turn is A... Capped on the turn... All three of us call (again me and the original raiser doing the raising) River A... I am now excited. I check now, and raiser bets other guy calls and I call... He says if you have a pocket pair we have the jackpot...
He turns over A Q... I yell and turn over my pocket 8's... other caller then turns over Pocket 9's (WTF)... He gets the bad beat worth over $8,000... I get nothing, nada, zilch, no pot, no jackpot.. The one time in my life I threw a mini tantrum on the table...

Oh btw.. the pocket 9's guy did throw me a bone when he came back after recieving his $8,000... he threw me a $100 dollar chip... wow nice guy... wanted to throw him in front of a passing bus but hey nice guy....

A few months ago I was playing in a local private game. We're playing 2/5. I just bought in for 500, won a small pot, and have about 570 in front. Game is short handed. Super LAG guy on the button makes it 35 to go. I have KK in the BB, and make it 135. Button calls. Flop is K, 10, 9 rainbow. I bet 100. He calls. The turn is a blank. I go all in dark before the turn, maybe not the smartest bet, but this guy and I have played together A LOT, plus I've dealt to him about 3 years. He thinks forever, and asks if I will run it twice if he calls. Sure, I have no problem running it twice with him. The river is a J on top, He tables AQ and says that's me. The river is a J on bottom.

Also saw the same thing happen a couple of weeks ago when a drunkard put in a 3rd bet with 72o. The flop is 356. He gets it all in against top set, they run it twice, and the river is a 4 on top and bottom.

Just like every other serious poker player I have 100 bad beat stories that I don't want to bore you with but since everyone else has posted about BB jackpots, I decided I will post mine.

I am playing $1/$2 and on the BB with JJ. Limped to me and I make it $15 and get 2 callers. Flop is K 5 5. I C-bet $25, one guy folds and the button calls. Turn is a 4 I check, he checks. River is a 4. Oh well, I check and he bets $45 into a ~$100 pot. I fold and he turns up 55 for flopped quads. The other guy that called my pre-flop raise and folded to the C-bet had folded 44. The bad beat was at $65K. My JJ C-bet cost him $32,500, the 44 $13000 and the 7 other players including myself $2785! They both looked sick and I laughed. I asked them what I was supposed to do. I needed to find out if I was beat and the answer was YES.

When I dealt I would get sick of listening to bad beat stories (mostly because most of them were NOT bad beats - such as "Man the other night I had Kings, Flopped trips when the board came out A K 9, got a full house on the turn when it came an Ace then got Quads on the River and this duma$$ jerk had pocket Aces!" Then someone else will say, "Dude that's such a bad beat!") (Very over exaggerated example and does not really convey what I am saying but anyways...)

So I used to make my own "business cards" that read:

Got a BAD BEAT Story?

Then call 1-900-Bad-Beat

The best story of the month wins $10,000!

Then on the back in fine print it said, "You think that was a bad beat? Wait until you get the 1-900 bill because it's going to cost you $99.99 per minute to tell your story."

Most people thought it was funny, some did not. (I was one of the few that thought it was funny - go figure!)

I had a bad beat in a live tourney a couple of years ago. It was late in the tourney. We got it all in pre-flop, my QQ against his KK. Flop came KQx. On the turn, I hit my miracle 1-outer for quad Queens. On the river, he hit his miracle 1-outer for quad kings. At the time, the room had a bad beat jackpot worth about 46K, but it was only for live action. It kind of felt like two bad beats in one hand.

This is the best bad beat I ever put on someone. It occurred over two hands in a $1/2 game at Mandalay Bay.

Background-I had been in a few hands with this kid and he did a lot to piss me off. On a recent hand I bluffed the river and he called. I said you got me, I missed. He says "I called you, show your cards." I say all I have is A high and I show the A. He says "show both." Annoyed, I show my kicker and he finally turns over top two pair. On another hand, he pushes all in, I asked how much it was and he refused to answer. After asking three times the dealer counted. This guy had beat me three or four times over the course of about three hours. So I was really looking to beat him.

Hand 1- V has built up a stack of about $400, I have him covered. He has position on me. I have J-10. The flop is J-J-10. I bet he calls. The turn comes and I bet, he raises all in. I do a Phil Hellmuth insta call and say in one breath "I call, I'm full." He turns over A-10 and is drawing dead. Ship about an $800 pot.

Hand 2- The Bad Beat- This is the very next hand. V rebuys for $150. He still has position on me. This time I have J-9. I flop top two pair, I bet he raises all in. I make him count (he does this time.) I call. He turns over a made straight. I stand up to get a better luck at the cards he turned over. I say come on, give me a J, without missing a beat the dealer turns over another J and I felt V for the second hand in a row.

Technically not a bad beat because when all the money went in, his KK were in the lead. After the river, his KK were still in the lead. Definately a 2% suck/resuck, but not a bad beat by definition.

The flop comes KJx I feel pretty good turn a blank the river J. That is easily the worst beat I have gotten.

Tom

Had a similar hand once. Got all-in preflop with KK vs JJ in a tournament. Flop contains a jack, turn is a king, river is the case jack. I've made nut flush against straight flush a couple of times. Those are the worst I remember being part of. It terms of losing with big hands those are the biggest I remember. We've all seen runner-runner suckouts with players all-in preflop.

Playing $1/$3 a couple months ago in my local casino I was on the table when a guy flopped quad Aces and lost to a river 9-high straight flush in clubs. The jackpot was at $56k, so I got a healthy $1787 just for being at the table! I've been free rolling ever since and am paying my way to Vegas for the second time in a month!

It hit in my 14th hour of play that day.
