Thought I would break in this new Off Topic forum with quite possibly the most pointless, mundane, and innocuous topic I could think of.
Coke or Pepsi?
I was considering adding a "neither" option, but that goes against the very foundation of the original, and classic debate, as "neither" was never an option.
Everyone has a preferance of one over the other. So, which is it for you, and why?
(I was considering having the first topic be Rep or Dem, but figured I would save that topic for another day. )

For me, it is Coke, bar none. I have been a fan of original Coca Cola since as far back as I can remember, and NEVER found Pepsi even the slightestly enjoyable. Just doesn't have an appealing flavor, IMO.
I remember going through that whole New Coke debacle in the late 80s and the taste tests in the supermarkets. The Cola wars were quite a fun sidebar to the 1980s.
Also, the ad campaign of Coke versus Pepsi always put me on Cokes side. I was never into the Michael Jackson campaign back then, nor was it my "choice" despite the fact that I was part of the "new generation"
I always liked the Norman Rockwell style ads of Santa Claus with a Coke bottle, and simply relate CocaCola to Americana Nostaliga, for lack of a better phrase.
In my hometown (Whittier, CA), there was a Coke themed restuarant uptown called the Rocky Cola Cafe. Quite a relic, it was, of course, unofficial in its Coke theme, but is truly a classic diner that just screams 1950s America.
For this and many other reasons, I vote for CocaCola, all the way.

There used to be a map on 2+2 that had the hotels colored blue and red to represent which properties sold Pepsi and which sold Coke. I just looked and it was gone! I loved that map. I thought it was brilliant!

Well, I know what I like, and you know what you like, and here's where to find it in Vegas. See, you thought bringing this topic up in the first place was a silly idea, but it doesn' tmatter what silly idea you have, someone has already taken that silly idea and expanded upon it...
BTW, please please please skip the political stuff.

Since part of the off-topic forum is getting to know people, I'll jump in here with a different answer.
I can honestly say I don't remember the last time I had a Coke or a Pepsi. It's been at least 15 years. I never really liked Pepsi and quit drinking Coke when they hired New Kids on the Block for their advertising. I don't drink much soda/pop, usually going with water. I do like 7-Up, especially with Seagram's 7
I'm not a health nut, closer to the opposite really. But I decided long ago that if I quit drinking pop and cut out 3000 calories/week, I could eat things I enjoy like chocolate and dessert. I can't stand the artificial taste of diet soda.

This is true. Though I prefer Coke between the two, I am not a soda drinker at all.
Though I rarely order drinks at the poker table in general, I do order Perrier or Pelligrino on occasion, and have a case of the former at home.
Elf: Yes, I was just being faceious. Though politics is not a banned topic, I was not about to start a political debate on the first day of the OT forum (or any time soon). No worries.

If I'm forced to choose I have to go with Pepsi... I think that's only because of my upbringing, we always had Pepsi. Although I can't remember the last time I ordered a Rum and Pepsi or Jack and Pepsi... and I went through most of my 20's always chasing coke ...
I have to stick with Pepsi even after the the whole Michael Jackson thing.

That's it! I LOVE this map. I am an avid Diet Coke drinker. I do not drink coffee. I drink Diet Coke like other people drink coffee. First think in the morning, I pop open a Diet Coke. I don't really like the taste of Diet Pepsi but I will drink it if that is my only choice.

Elf, The link killed the game-plan that I've been working on for weeks . I too voted Coke and only 2 of the 7 casinos on my plan serve it. Back to the drawing board .
