I know this probably sounds ridiculous, but has anybody tried the $20 trick at the Plaza? I'm going there with a buddy and we thought we might try it just for grins, maybe get upgraded to a suite from a standard room. Please don't make fun of me for being a cheapskate

Try the hotel forum. This is really only for discussion of the Plaza Poker Room.

Played at the Plaze tonight.

It was the first casino that Perry and I visited on our bogus journey, at around 10PM. We were pleasantly surprised to see Steve (TI Dealer) playing Pan 9 (this is the only room in town to still spread this relic), and Jose (TI Extra Board), dealing their single 2/4LHE game.

I hadn't been to the poker room at the Plaza since they moved the room and cut the table number down severely.

Unfortunately, the room quality and action has really taken a downturn, and I would not really recommend the Plaza for anyone looking to play anything other then Pan 9 or a $40 SnG which they run all day.

The room has strict operating hours of 2PM to Midnight.

we stayed at the Plaza last March (guys trip). After arranging for the poker room rate with the room manager upon arrival, we played several SNGs over the course of 3 days. Bad structure with only 1000 in starting chips. But then when we checked out (3 different rooms) we each had to have our own separate argument with the hotel desk clerk and each got three different room rates; all within $15 for the 3 nights, but still. We won't be back there. The only games they were dealing were SNGs, 2-4 limit and Pan, and nothing after about midnight.

The room rate was about 1/2 off. We were there in early March and paid about $75 per room for a Wed-Fri stay.

And you still paid twice what that joint is worth. You sure it was half off?

Well...uh....good point. But actually the room itself wasn't terrible; better than my room at Binions last year. (OK, I know; now I'm pitching to you underhand.)

$75 a night for the Plaza!? I stayed in their sister property, Vegas Club for $30. I would have been more comfortable in my car.

How about $15 a night? That's what it costs for my solo trip in Jan. :D
Will be a stretch for me to actually sleep 4-5 hours a night, so don't want to spend a bunch on a room- my other option is the Plaza for $18 a night. Which should I pick?? :?

Actually I have been very comfortable in the North Tower of the Vegas Club in the past. I've never stayed at the Plaza but our yearly guys trip has us down town at the Vegas Club. The south Tower sucked last May, noisy, more threadbare and stained, but if you're just going to sleep and shower it is not that bad. Gave the girl a $5 tip at the check in desk and she took $10 off the bill!
