I've heard plenty of good about this place, I didn't have the same opinion though. The room is OK but the structure of the 1/2NL isn't to my liking. They have 1/1/2 blinds rather than just 1/2 so it's not much break between blinds, especially short-handed. The $50 minimum buy-in is cool, but the max of $50 puts you at a big disadvantage if you're buying into a table full of big-stacks. They should bump the max buy-in to at least $200, just to give you some options.

I would never play in that $50 max buy in game, though I have heard many that swear by it.
Played at Luxor a couple times, just low limit when we were already there. Nice small room, with a very friendly staff, but nothing spectacular that would ever promot me to go back specifically for poker.
Don't like thier chairs (in fact, I found them to be amongst the least comforable ever).
the $50 limit on buy in makes sure that you don't come to a NL table and sit next to someone with $3000 in front of them.
That's certainly true on a table that's only been going for an hour or two, but not at all the case for one that's been running all day. Last time I played there were at least 3 players at my table w/ over $1200 in chips and the avg chipstack was about $750
I find it hard to believe that the average chip stack at a table with a 50 maximum buy in would be $750. That means each person would, on average, have won 14 times their initial buy in. For anyone to have that type of chip stack, a ton of people would have had to bust out, meaning there'd be at least a few people sitting at the table with a short stack buy in. That means the stacks of everyone else would have to be around 1000 bucks for those numbers to be accurate.
No, that was a bit of a reach, there were 3 dominant stacks and another 3 that were at least 400, the rest were closer to 200, but when I bought in I was the only one w/ 50 at the table. I'd say the avg was closer to 400 But again, I may have just picked the worst time ever to be there, lol.
If you ask the poker room manager, you can get a small food comp - $4 or so, I think - that can be used at the cafe or buffet.
High hands pay little. I only got $20 for quad jacks, but at least I only had to use one pocket card. You won't get much, even for a royal.
They do have a high hand "contest" during the wee hours once a week - maybe something like Mondays from 3am to 8 am? Something like that. Pay $1000 for high hand and pays out a few other spots.
Sorry - I haven't been there for a few months and don't remember all the details.
