Add the MGM Grand and The Mirage to your "places to play" list. I found both the Venetian and Mirage very productive at the 1-2 NL when I was there over Xmas. The Ceasers 12pm and 7pm tournaments are worthwhie with their 45 minute levels. Try Margarites in the Frontier if you like reasonable priced and excellent Mexican food.

If you like 1/2 with a $200 max, then I would avoid Caesars unless you are going there for tournaments, not cash games, as their 1/2 is a $500 max and plays fairly deepstacked most of the time.
Venetian has a $200 max as does MGM.
Good luck!

I agree with all of that. Although I have run into enough very bad 1-2 NL players at Ceasars to make it worthwhile.
A story ... after finishing the 12pm Ceasars tournament late one afternoon, I sat down at the 2-5 NL game to wait for my wife to show up because it was the only open seat. I bought in for $500 which seemed to be about right until I discovered that everyone had stacks of rubber banded $100's sitting behind their chips. It was the most $ I've ever seen in a live game at one time Before I left I did see a guy get all in preflop for over $10K with pocket K's against AK. The flop AXX. The turn A. The river A. That was one unhappy dude!
Here are my Vegas recs for someone newly 21 (of course I'm haven't seen 21 in over a decade) but in my heart, I still party like a rockstar.
Not poker:
The evening pool party at the HardRock
Dinner at Nobu at the hard Rock (if you like sushi)
The Xtreme ride atop the stratospere (I saw a grown man scream for his mommy) Poker room at the Palms is still a great place to spot the pretty celebs
Poker:
My favorite rooms are the MGM, Caesars (in the early am) and the Venetian. That said, it wasn't clear if you've done alot of casino poker before...if not I reccomend starting out at the Monte Carlo or maybe the Flamingo. Easy going crowd and pretty straight forward play. If you are an online player, you will find the games alot easier in Vegas, as long as you adjust your own aggression level.

I hate that I see that alot in my home cardroom. The money can't play, so it's just there to convince you they don't care about the money. And anyone who goes out of thier way to convince you they don't care about something....does care about. Either way, I wouldn't let it affect my play or table selection. I just remind myself that in all likelihood its a roll of $1s surrounded by a couple of C notes.

Money (currency) plays anywhere in Nevada according to NGC (Nevada Gaming Commision) rules. Some casinos have a $20 bill threshold (meaning a $20 can stay up without being converted to chips) and some have a $100 only rule. However, if that cash is on the table, the only way you can pick it up is to leave with all your chipss and cash.
That said, have a great time. I think you'll probably have the time of your life, and NYNY is right across from MGM, a fine room for you kids. I'm an old man and my hearing's shot from the Ramones and Iggy Pop, cain't abide the techno and house stuff that pours out of Studio 54 at night.
My advice....play as much as you can, wrap that rascal, and take it from an old guy, much better to regret something you've done than something you didn't do.

I'm aware of the cash play rules. I was very specific about referencing my home cardroom (which is in CA) when I refered to big wads of cash on the table. In my home card room you are not supposed to have cash on the table unless you are buying chips; but even if you do; they don't let it play.
That said, I guess I was subtly (no such luck) trying to tell the original poster that he was unlikley to find 10K deep (cash) stacks at Ceasars in a 2-5 game. Yes, they can get that deep, but I've only seen them like that with chips. In all the times I've played there, I have never been allowed to hold cash (other than the amount of my buy-in) on the table and they have never let me color-up for cash before leaving my seat. So, while it may sometimes (somehow) happen that people are sitting witnt?h $500 in chips at the game but have another 10K in cash tucked behind them (as asserted)...well that's unusual. Maybe your experience is different?
