Hubby and I finished watching season 1 of Homeland last night. We missed episodes 7 and 8 because, for some reason, Showtime doesn't have them On Demand. Kind of irritating but I think the only thing we really missed there was Carrie's affair with Sargeant Brody. The last episode was pretty good and we're looking forward to watching season 2 today.

If the current political debate re separation of church and state interests you, the Showtime series, The Tudors, gives a good historical perspective to what the framers of our Constitution may have been thinking. I recently watched the entire series, streaming Netflix. Also, if you like Friends (and/or British comedies), Netflix carries a similar British comedy called Coupling.

Do you have physical therapy or are you basically good to go once you no longer need crutches? Either way, best wishes on your recovery.

I'll get back to you on Words. Never played anyone that wasn't a Facebook friend. I'll have to figure it out. Real name is Brian, by the way.

Well hello, Brian. ;) I'm on facebook but I don't do apps on there. I know, weird since I have it on my phone and that's probably less private. Do you have it on any other device (iPad, Nook, etc.)?

iPad2, iPod Touch, iPhone, I got 'em all. How are you coming along? On Facebook, I am "Brian Grayson" with University of New Mexico Law School next to it. See if you can find me and hit me up there. Any AVP pals are welcome of course to do the same. i am blessed to have made a new set of friends because of AVP. How can one's life not be better after knowing Glenn (missingflops), Kristi (Alaska Gal), Cindy (Poker Muffin), LVM (Michael), etc?

Hockey playoffs start Wed. night - is there anything better? There is, of course, tons of coverage up here in Canada. Every night for the next two weeks!!!!!! I had a high tibial osteomoty 5 years ago in mid April and spent 2 months on the couch so I highly recommend watching. It helps when you have some tickets on the fridge on who will win the Stanley Cup. Go Canucks! :D

I was so pissed off after the Flyers were down 3-0 in the first period I went out to play poker. Watched them come back on the TV right in front of me and was the only one in the room playing attention. I was losing my mind.

There is nothing like the Stanley Cup playoffs. Enjoyed the great games last night that went to OT, all 3 of them. Best playoffs in all of sports.

Let's Go Flyers!!

I hate the Flyers. #2. 1st is Boston. 3rd is Ottawa. I have no real interest in the playoffs this year. :sigh:

Brian, friend request sent.

Went to the doctor for my follow up. The incision looks good, albeit long at about 8" with about 20 staples. I go back next week to get the staples removed and then to start PT. Woke up this morning really sore and in lots of pain so back to bed rest for me. :sigh:

Hi Jess - been off for awhile - work and stuff - just
saw this. Hope you feel better soon. It is so hard
to be down when you are used to being so active.

Another couple of shows that are kind of addicting if you can get the
earlier seasons are The Killing on AMC and Luther on BBC America.
I loved both of them and am still hooked on The Killing. The Killing
definitley has mob undertones and Luther has everything you could want
in an action show, including a serial killer that the hero teams up with to
catch bad guys - really good.

Take good care of yourself and don't try doing too much too fast.
That is the problem with being stuck at home for awhile - we just aren't
used to it and want to hurry things along.

I hope you get better soon - you need to rest up for Vegas!!

J

Thanks J. I'm doing best and am following doctors orders, as challenging as that may be. Tried walking without the crutches for a bit this morning and am pretty tired now. Good to figure out my boundaries. I mostly wish I could do more for my dog's sakes as I can tell they are bored with only back yard time. My greyhound especially. But yeah, I am resting up for Vegas and am hoping I will not need the use of a scooter but am prepared to rent one if need be. I'm whiling away the hours watching live web cams and playing lots of online poker so as to no dull my poker skills and reading so I'm not bored by any stretch of the imagination. Just not "doing" much.

So I decided to try and finish a cross-stitch project I started for my Mom yesterday. I had forgotten how relaxing it can be. However, now that I wear bi-focals, it's difficult the see where the next stitch goes and I need to get one of those lighted magnifying thingies. Any idea where I can find one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg since I'm not earning wages right now?

Jess,

Try looking on Craigslist; lots of stuff on there usually a good deal. Otherwise see if there are any craft stores going out of business nearby. And keep healing up so you can take Vegas by storm.
