Cough cough cough

Well, I finally got to this spot on my low limit grinder tour, and after two hours my lungs were killing me. I quit smoking when I got on the plane 8 months ago to come out here, and forgot how absolutely horrible I used to feel. Now, I remember.

The game was $4/$8 and not too bad. There were actually a couple of players that knew how to play. The rest are terrible, which is par for the course. They all know each other.

Funny thing--another room where you can't buy the button. There is just no rhyme or reason why some allow it and others don't.

If you smoke, this is one of the last places to indulge. Thank God.

Thank God is right. Thank God for Arizona Charlies, Decatur.

Just got back from a couple hours in this relic. I LOVED IT!

Smokers rejoice! It is one of only two 24/7 smoking poker rooms left (Boulder Station is the other one).

It is now two tables, in a roped off area by the pit, as the old room now houses "high limit" slots.

Greatest group of old timers I have ever played with.

Ended up winning $250 off the table, playing 4/8 with a single $2 blind, short handed the entire time.

I only went there so I could smoke and play cards, and I will be back. It is nice to have a couple options left. The non smokers have every other poker room in Vegas. Let us have our two. It is not asking for much.

Thank you, sir. For several months now I'd been thinking of checking it out, partly in hopes I might run into a bunch of the whiskey soaked gentlemen who used to play under a cloud of smoke up at Fiesta Rancho, but it's not on my way to anything and I wasn't sure I believed they really would have a game going up there. Now I'll get off my duff and try it.

Well, AVM, I guess this is another one where we'll have to disagree diametrically (along with the Hilton--my home away from home, one of your least favorite rooms). I tried Arizona Charlie's-Decatur for the first time today. Here's my report:

I must admit that when I wrote my old review on this place, I was a little over the top.

The "room" has since moved since I posted my review, and is now not a room at all, as you know.

We are not in too much disagreement over this one anymore. It is such a dive of a casino/hotel that the poker room pretty much fits it perfectly.

Walked by the poker area the other day, I had heard them announce a $4-$8 game but there were an awful lot of red chips on the table for a $4-$8 game, looked a bit closer and saw that they were playing with overs buttons, obviously overs to No Limit because there wasn't enough red on the table for a red chip limit game.,

Perry and I will be stopping by this poker room in the next week (probably on Sunday or Monday night).

I look forward to some 4/8 overs action (with smoking!) again.

Should be interesting.

LVM, if you are doing a tour of smoking rooms, it might be of some small interest to know that I saw ashtrays in use on the table at the Fortune Club a couple of weeks ago. I think it was a 3/6 kill game with a couple of overs on the table, but I'm not sure. Just one game at a table scrunched up next to the pit.

Pardon the off topic note...

And don't anybody ever ask what I was doing in the Fortune Club. I'll deny it.

Somehow I missed this post.

I will definately consider adding that to Perry and my next adventure.

We have not done our Arizona Charlies based adventure yet, since Perry is in Europe on vacation, but when he returns, we will make our agenda and go from there. Fortune club sounds quite interesting. I have never been there. :D
