Last week, I decided to play poker at Orleans, one of my favorite guilty pleasure places to play. I played Omaha 8/b and sat alongside a guy I had played with many times before. He left shortly after we sat down and switched to the 8/16 game.

After about an hour, I walked over and asked him if he would mind being interviewed for a few minutes for AVP. He resisted at first, not because he didn't want to be interviewed or miss the game, but because he didn't think anyone would care.

His name is Byron and he was one of the first people I remember playing alongside with in Las Vegas. We are not "friends" perse, but have a mutual respect for each other. He is cordial to the staff, and is fairly social with other players. He plays all the time, so I knew he would have some stories to share. After chatting for a few minutes, my biggest regret was not getting to know him sooner. I had no idea of his backstory or how long he had been around Vegas.

Here is a link to the conversation. Enjoy! http://www.allvegaspoker.com/news_detail_530.html

That was a great read - the first question almost had me shooting my drink out of my nose. Thanks to both you and Byron.

I'd enjoy meeting this guy. Next time you see him, tell him "thanks" from all of us for sitting out a few hands with you.

elaborate on this.

i'm not a local, but i love this room because it's usually pretty busy, the chairs are WAY above average, the dealers are good, and the games are usually beatable between the low rake & rock nits and/or bad players that have filled the tables most times i've been there. for those of us that prefer limit, it's a great room IMO. the room's reputation, though probably well deserved for the most part, is exaggerated and deserves a bit more respect i think.

Cool read and a great perspective. I love playing with the old timers. They have a lot to teach.

That is so awesome I can hardly come up with an adequate response. In many ways I totally related and resemble Byron. Next time in LV I'm going to be looking for him.
