The rule I'm used to is the guy who initiated the bet shows first. So if Player A shoves all in, B calls, then turn and river comes, A has to show first.

I thought this had been standardized? If a player has moved all-in and has been called it doesn't matter what street the action occurs on, the player who moved all-in shows first since it is s/he who has been called. If there is money left to play and the river is checked down, hands are shown starting with the small blind. Any room can choose to change the latter to last aggressor, but few use that option these days.

That would only be the correct thing to do. It is embarrassing for the caller to have to be the one who shows. And the aggressor is getting away with it. I think people read the rule wrong. I don't think of checking as real action. So the last action was the aggressor's bet way back when... that how I think of it.

Right I think the whole question can be rendered moot if the players involved show a bit of class. In "Elements of Poker" Tommy Angelo gives some excellent guidelines for how players can deal with this situation and keep the game moving.
Not showing your hand at showdown is ridiculous, it doesn't just slow the game down it leaves you open to muck a winner because A you misread your hand, or B the opposing player calls out his hand and you muck because he misread his hand or C the dealer misreads his hand or D all of the above and you are now on tilt and refuse to realize its your own fault for not showing. I think everyone must show if the reach the river period, I don't care that I have to read more hands this way, also I think it protects the integrity of the game and guards against team play.
So I agree with the overall sentiment that the rule is stupid and is not in conjunction with what is universally accepted as "normal" and we will change the rule.
Now, the question is, does the following statement make it clear who shows first?
SHOWDOWN If it is checked on the river: In stud type games, it is the player who is high on board. In blind games, it is the first player to the left of the button. If there is action on the river - the last player to have increased the action (bet/raise) will be first to show.
If no action is possible, due to an all-in situation occurring on/or prior to the Turn, the player that was the last aggressor when the all-in happened is required to show first.

I think it's sweet you included "stud type games."
Yes, that is unambiguous and sensible. To simplify "last aggressor" though, for AI situations you can just stipulate "the player who was called shows" as normal.

Don't give the players too much credit!
Seriously most of the time you are right. If I were the one involved in the hand, there would never be an issue anyway. But throw in some drunks and angle shooters in the mix, and well, we need rules!

Oh sure we def need rules... I was sort of dreaming of a Utopian Poker Universe in which all players acted like reasonable adults rather than spoiled children.
