Perhaps it was unfair to say nothing new, but I will stand by nothing exciting.

It all depends on the technology here. Are you going to be showing players hole cards as part of the coverage? Without this, I would find it very difficult to get interested in a game without some personal connection. And of course it adds nothing if I was actually participating in the game.

There are no detail about the points system given, but the description given implies that it will be similar to WSOP circuit events in that you will have to cash to earn points. I'm also guessing around 10% of places will be paid. Let's suppose a truly exceptional player has an expected 100% ROI and corresponding 20% chance of finishing in the money. There are only 5 events in the tour, so on average he might expect to cash in only one of them. The "Player of the year" title will be going to the player who gets lucky and cashes in two or three of them rather than someone who is necessarily any good. Of course, as these are re-entry events then those with deep pockets can always increase their chances ...

That's good. I guess I was kind of under the impression that these were being replaced by the AVPT. I'm glad they are not. I have always enjoyed reading about them & have yet to make it to one, but am hoping to in the future. Any ideas on when and where the next meet and greet may take place?

Yep, and details on it will be out pretty soon from what I'm told.

I don't know how much details I can give about the webcast, but I will say that it's not a simple webcam pointed at the table. Viewers will have different views, angles, etc to choose from so it's totally interactive and innovative done by a professional media company.

Addressing the leader board: AVPT is providing players a slow, deep structure in which skill should play a larger factor. Also, with five events and the ability to both re-enter during the buy in window and/or play day 1a and 1b if you don't successfully navigate through day 1a, we feel that this is enough of an opportunity for a player to shine in a leader board race. Is it a perfect scenario? Of course not. But in live tournament poker no one has a real sample size big enough to totally remove the luck factor. Even traveling tours have stops all over and most people don't make every event, so the normal top "competitors" in their leader boards often only attend 5-10 events.

Our main goal is to offer things that tourneys of much higher price points offer (webcasting, leader boards, reporting, player services, etc) at the price point that appeals to the larger group of poker players. Hopefully the tour will be a success and we can expand and improve it for season two.

PS- Thanks for voicing your opinion. I hope that it changes as we'd love to have you attend an event (or 5) but I repect your opinion. If you decide to play please let us know how we can improve moving forward. Whether it be business ventures or how to play a hand, talking about it and receiving constructive criticism is always beneficial for everyone involved. Best wishes as well bud and thanks again :-)

To be clear, I didn't say there was anything wrong with the tournament series. Just that for me there was nothing exciting enough to differentiate it from what is already available. Maybe the streaming aspect will surprise me.

Good luck.

The All Vegas Poker Tour will not replace the AVP meets. In fact "AVP XV" will take place on Sunday April 1st, during the AVPT weekend. And we will have AVP XVI during the WSOP...but will not have a Tour event during WSOP. So keep in mind they are separate things. (will post a separate thread for AVP XV!)

There has never been anything like the AVPT. A traveling poker tour within one city, Las Vegas. These are all 'main events' with only $350 buyins. Basically, each event will have all the characteristics of a major event, but without a large buyin. Nothing about these events can be compared to anything else that has ever taken place in Vegas, for this size buyin. Huge trophies for the winners, giveaways, ADDED points prizes, 15k starting stack with 25-50 blinds, 40 minute levels, AND 360 degree streaming. Every aspect of this is very unique, which is why we are so excited about it.

We realize that $350 buyins aren't for everyone, which is why we are only running 5 events. We are hoping that these events will attract players from all bankrolls and stakes...just as the $1k WSOP events do. Given all the unique aspects of these events, along with Benton's and my efforts in creating the player-friendly structure, we are very optimistic that everyone will enjoy the events and find great value in them.

Any idea on the date yet? I'm thinking of a June trip to Vegas but haven't nailed it down yet because I would like to attend one of these.

+1 Even though I normally wouldn't buy into a $350 tourney, I don't think you will ever find a structure as nice as this for that amount of money.

Jon thank you for keeping the AVP Meets. they are a blast!! Ryan i agree on the buy in but i am a low slow roller. 1/2 nl games. i also wish AVPT tremendous success. remember these improvements do take mucho denero, nothing is free, and i get and understand that. Brian and I are trying to plan an AVP Meet and NFL Football weekend in Oct but time will tell on that one. again much success to this new effort.

Thanks Jon.
Nice to hear about the AVP XVI in June.
I like the AVP Tour idea, too bad I can't attend the first event, I guess we'll have at least two more between September/December, if I'm lucky I could catch one.
I hope you'll be able to add a few side events later in the year.
Good luck to you !

Also, to our valued members and friends who say the $350 buy in for AVPT events is beyond their bankroll please keep in mind that the host venues will be running satellites for these events, so you can still win a seat for cheap. Good luck everyone!
