I'm definitely going to try to make it into town for this. If I do make it into town, I'm not sure if I'll play in the tourney or not, but I will certainly be around for the side games.
I am in and excited about it. I don't mind the buy-in, but I understand what others are saying and it might not have been a bad idea to have a lower buy-in to start to get the numbers up and people buzzing.
Looking forward to it. Only way I would not be there (not that anyone is holding their breath) is if I need a minor surgery on my leg that has been discussed. I hope not!
MGM gonna offer special room rates for this?
[edit: I have to second the concern about the second one being on Mother's Day weekend. I actually like being married to my wife and if I attended that, my wife would tell me to stay in Vegas]

I just spoke to the manager of the venue for Event #2, and he is 99% sure that we can push it to the following weekend, May 19-20. He will confirm with me on Monday, and I will pass it on. In the meantime, I am going to remove the date for Event 2 in our announcement until it is confirmed.
We had always planned on avoiding Mothers Day for obvious reasons, but after having to shuffle a few dates around, we somehow ended up in that weekend without realizing it. I will make sure we take care of this. Sorry about the mishap. Jon

You can always get the poker room rate, but I am working on getting an even lower rate for this weekend. Unfortunately, it falls on Final Four weekend and rooms might be at a premium.

If you could push it to the following weekend (26-27), that would be even better (for me ). Shameless, I know.

Jon, do you mean "no AVP event" in June/July due to the WSOP schedule ? I can understand, but that's too bad for the foreign AVP members who are more likely to be in town at that time. Anyway, the AVP Tour is a great idea and I wish you a lot of success !
I am underwhelmed by the announcement. As far as I can see, apart from AVP sponsorship it offers nothing new or exciting in the Vegas poker scene. It is not priced as a social gathering for AVP members, so I might as well play any other of a number of Vegas tournaments throughout the year.
I will be in Vegas that weekend, but I will not be participating.

That's unfortunate to hear. Out of curiosity, what other "everyday tourneys" in Vegas offer webcasted final tables and a player of the year leader board WITHOUT removing money from the prize pool for this? Also, it was never announced that this was or will take the place of the AVP meet and greets.
