Everyone I met at the tables kept telling me how great their Caesars/Harrahs group room offers and comp room deals were by being TotalRewards member.

"Drop $100 in a slot machine and you'll more than save that with all the free room offers" was the consensus.

Normally just sticking to poker only, sometime earlier last year I played some slots, as well as $25-$40/hand at table games for a few hours at Ballys where the pit boss was more than happy to rate me. I repeated again at Caesars when there during the Caesars Deepstack, and so was kinda bummed when every time I logged into my TR account I had "0 Offers" - assuming this meant no discounts on rooms.

Finally logged in last night - "0 Offers" - but searched reservations while logged in and it was a bit of an "OMG moment" - there were comp room nights out that yazoo for pretty much any date. I probably got a bit over excited as I promptly made 4 sets of reservations for the balance of the year (including a week stay at the Rio over WSOP :D ). Am wondering - why the flock did I not figure this out sooner, paying way too much for rooms at MGM properties for my last four trips to LV...DOH!

At the Rio next Thursday for four nights - 2 comped, $60/night for the others... not too shabby. Hopefully I don't completely hate the Rio as I have three more reservations upcoming there now

Everybody does this. For some reason it is natural for most people to assume "offers" are what you should look for, until they eventually get around to discovering the rate calendar. I always check the rate calendar first and foremost. Just remember to be sure you're logged in when you look at it. The so called "offers" usually don't amount to much when you start getting some, but still worth looking at once in a while.

Unless you are very picky I think you'll be plenty comfortable in a Rio hotel room, so long as you have transportation since it isn't near much that's very interesting. If you don't, they do run a shuttle to their Strip properties.

The system let you book four reservations? Normally it will only allow up to three active bookings, regardless of length. Making bookings for several sets of comped dates that you can use is not a bad idea. You'll eventually find those "COMP" calendar dates can and often will suddenly be replaced with dollar amounts at any time, but if you booked 'em you won't lose 'em when that happens. Don't expect that rate calendar to keep looking so juicy for you indefinitely. You will log in one day in the near future and have a sinking feeling as you wonder what happened and why all the rates suddenly suck when yesterday they didn't and how you can make them come back.

I am so glad you posted this I always thought I should get some offers cause I play there alot, but nothing. Then I go to the calendar and I have comped rooms galore, it was like finding a treasure chest thanks a bunch, for sharing.

I just used that calendar to book another trip as I fear the decimation of Harrah's poker comps will reveal my true low-rolling ways when I log hours at the 2-4 tables later this month. I think my ADT is going to plummet and they'll be gone....thus June trip already booked to score that free room.

Thanks for the replies... so maybe I don't feel quite so stupid now.. ;)

Trying now to be down in LV every 8 weeks or so, and the room rate costs really add-up. When I went down before maybe just once or twice a year, I'd just pay the poker room rate at the V, but a 3 day weekend stay comes out as $580 with taxes and resort fees et al. So finally starting to check out the TR and Mlife programs.

I prefer staying at MGM properties, but being able to book 3 trips mostly comped altogether is pretty sweet with TR. I really like how TR points earned in one property get you comp or discounts at any other property as well.

Point well taken about the rates not sticking around... as much as I'd rather be at a cash game, I'll probably play a bit at some tables or slots to log some hours and see if it keeps me in discounted or comped rooms. If I can save $400-$500 a trip on room costs, I'm still ahead in the long run.

for those new to TR, make sure you check your offers first and then go to the reservations page. If you have offers, it will usally be cheaper than the reservations. at least that is what I see right now when I check.
