I have a few questions.

1. Who else (beside me) collects poker chips?
2. Do you only collect them from rooms in which you have played?
and most importantly,
3. Where in Las Vegas has the coolest poker chips?
I'll be there in a week and a half and I want to add to my collection.

I collect chips, but only from rooms that I have played in.

A lot of the players here are collectors, I'm not sure which places have the best chips as I collect $1 chips and they're pretty much all the same.

I sort of collect $1 chips. Nothing fancy or displayed, but I just like to look at them and remember the good times.

My faves are 2 discontinued ones. The old Luxor chip with the hieroglyphics on them and the Stardust with the silver metal center.

I can't think of any particularly cool $1 chips. The ones with interesting pictures on them seem to be the $5 ones. I do have a $1 Bally's one that has a Jubilee showgirl on it. It is all smooth and shiny (plastic?), (not sure of the terminology here) rather than the typical clay chip.

Hi, my name is Santa and I am a poker nerd. Yes, I collect chips.

I generally only collect them from rooms I have played (frankly I haven't been to a room where I haven't played!).

I don't have a ton of them, maybe 20 or so. Most are of the $1 variety, but do like the odd ones ($2 and $3 are kind of odd, like at Wynn). My favorite is my prized Charlie Murphy $5 Aladdin/Planet Hollywood transition chip. Chappelle Show fans will understand. I've got a display box in my home office right next to my Dogs Playing Poker portrait.

My one regret was from steaming so bad in Germany that I forgot to get a $1 E chip from Spielbank Berlin. I doubt I will get to play there again so that's a big miss.

I also have a few of the $1 metal coins from Luxor, Mandalay Bay and a few downtown rooms. These are kind of neat because they aren't around anymore with the advent of electronic/ticket type slots.

OK, flame on.

Santa

Yep, I also collect chips. Not sure poker chips but chips from casinos I have visited. Sometimes, I will just walk into a casino to get the $1 chip I need. I have about 36 of them now. I need more! Probably when I go in October I will grab more.

Hey, you know what else I like? Those silver/gold coins that are found in quarter machines. They are cool. I like them. I think they are worth $10 if you cash them in at the casino. They are in the SILVER STRIKE MACHINES. You have to get the Silver Strike symbol on the 3rd line/reel and a coin drops out.

My favorite chips are from the Stardust (RIP).

I collect em too. Only places I've played. I have about 30. My favorite was from the Princess Cruise Lines, just good times and a little different. Major Vegas ones I plan to go for next trip are the three "Ms" - Mirage, Monte Carlo, and MGM. I also need the Rio, but have most of the others I believe. Here in L.A., I have Commerce, The Bike and Hollypark, but need Hustler and the others further south. I have some from the Palm Springs, SF and SD areas as well.

I collect them as well. I have a fairly comprehensive collection of Las Vegas chips. I do not limit my collection to places I have played, as I have high interested in properties that are long gone, like El Rancho Vegas, the Mint, and Sans Souci.

I keep them all in a chip binder, away from light.

I think my favorite is the one from Bellagio. Not because it looks special, but because of how I got it. The first time I was in Las Vegas, I was a B&M virgin, and though I was staying at Bellagio with my wife, I didn't have the nerve to play there. But I wanted a chip. So, my wife and I went to the Wheel of Fortune thing and get 5 $1 chips. I was going to put it on the best odds, but my wife convinced me to go for a long shot - I was really there to get the chip, so have some fun. End result - I won $80 with a $2 bet. I'll be back in 10 days, and I hope my luck is just as strong!

My favorite $1 chips:

Stardust
Bellagio
Circus Circus (only because the 30 years of dirt on them gives them a special feel as you peel them apart)

Yeah, but I think my brother will either hit me or throw up all over me if I even SUGGEST walking into Clown Hell.
