I played in a tournament at the Bally's poker room a few months ago. I didn't think it was bad at all. It was nice to sit by the windows and gaze at the beach from time to time. I do strongly agree with the other comments about the Borgata. It's a first class facility and poker room.

I think you might have been at Harrah's, which is next to Borgata and overlooks the water. I don't recall Bally's view (they might have a window over the boardwalk), but their tournament structure makes Mirage's sit n go's look good.

There's a big window/glass wall to the right of the "desk/brush". The tournaments are played right there between the desk and the Horse Betting and bar. To each his own. If you like it, play there and enjoy yourself!! Everyone has their own tastes and reasons why they like certain rooms. I just wouldn't suggest anyone who likes a room like the Venetian to play at Bally's AC. If the IP is your idea of a great poker room, then Bally's AC will offer you all you can eat.

You live in Jersey, so I probably don't need to tell you this...but Bally's is the type of place that gives AC the reputation it so richly deserves. If you want to play poker, and feel like walking is the only option...walk a block down to Caesars. If you can stand the Jittney, take a swing down to the Borgata!! Once you go in, you won't have a reason to look elsewhere for a game in AC. ANY GAME!
Bally's has Bills (think this is the name) Poker room up the escalator, and is connected to the Horse Book. It is a pathetic dive with some unusual characters both playing and WORKING. It does sport the largest poker tables on the planet though, if that might be important for you. Ten 400 lbs guys could sit at one of those tables and never bump legs accidentally under the table. But since Harrah's changed the Bad Beat to a CITY WIDE payout, there isn't a reason in the world I would step foot in the place. Go to Harrah's AC poker website for further info on the bizzare bad beat rules and payout.
Just more of your remarkable HET management at work!!
I head down to AC about once every two months so I know all the rooms. While the Ballys room has improved some over the past year or two, I still hate playing cash games there and will walk over to Ceasars for my 1/3 fix. The Sat night $100 tournament isn't too bad though, but by 8PM this Sat I'm sure I'll be half in the bag
The Wild West poker room has been closed for months if not years, and you are 100% accurate with your description of how operations were. Just awful.
An interesting tid bit of info I learned today is this weekend starts the WPT Borgata Main Event. I may have to jitney over on Sunday afternoon after the donks get knocked out of the Tourney. I normally avoid Borgata due to the young douch bag factor but the cash game Sun night may be too juicy to pass up.

Borgata is a real good (and classy) room with 85 tables/good game selection/tournaments. Taj is the 2nd biggest and has great game selection, but is filled with sketchy "characters". There have been violent crimes committed inside (and outside) the joint recently.
All of the other poker rooms in AC are too similar, IMO. Basically 1/2-2/5 NLHE & 2/4 LHE rooms with 20-30 tables & BBJ's.
Borgata is the only good poker room in Atlantic City, it is huge and gets alot of play. In December on a Wednesday I played in the afternoon tournament and it got 390 runners!

I am going to AC May 14-16. I am curious to check out Revel. Has anyone been there yet?
I called the poker room yesterday around noon and they told me they don't usually have a game going until 1 or 2. It sounds like Borgata will still dominate the AC poker scene.
I stopped in the Revel poker room a few weeks ago. It is on the mezzanine level. The room is really nice. The thing that stands out the most is, how dark the room appears as you walk around, but when you sit at the table you can see perfectly. I talked to the room manager and he said the tables are state of the art. They are not affected by any spills, they are large and as i said before perfecty well lit.
As far as the rest of Revel, it is a monstrosity. They call it a resort but it feels like a city. I gotta say the women in that place are just ridiculously hot. We stopped by a Burlesque bar and saw a pretty amazing show. The girls dance out front of the club as well. Take a peak, you will not be disappointed.

I stopped in Revel during my recent trip to Atlantic City. This was during their soft opening period and the place was empty, maybe 10% of what you would expect. I was told this is because they have not really started marketing the place until they are sure everything runs smoothly. The facility is enormous and strangelyy has a lot of empty space, long wide hallways with a few seating areas and nothing else. I am not sure if they have other plans for all of that space.
The poker room is a bit hard to find. When we walked in through the parking garage we walked through a maze of hallways, around the mussel bar restaurant until we finally found the casino floor. I found a security guard and asked for directions to the poker room and was told I had to walk back around the mussel bar to a staircase (with no apparent signs) go up th stairs, across the building and I would see the poker room. The floor with the poker room is meant to provide guests with a birds eye view of the casino but except for the poker room this another large empty space.
The poker room itself is beautiful. Remiscent of Aria's poker room. I think they have about 35 tables which makes it large by AC standards but significantly smaller than Borgata. When I arrived at 7 PM on Monday night there was one 'game' going. Two guys plaing $3/6 heads up. I sat down and played with them for a few hours (they eventually agreed to up it to $4/8, more on this later.) Everyone in the poker room was very attentive to the three of us they were happy to answer questions about future plans. They explained that they had not begun promoting the poker room yet and expect a significant increase in business once they do (including running daily tournaments.) The management instructed the dealers to deal the game without a rake since we were short handed. When a few more players came by they had to start raking $1 for the bad beat but we were allowed to play 4 & 5 handed without any other rake.
The best part of this poker room are the comps. Now, some may have heard that they will not comp anyone a room and this may be true. However, they comp poker players up to $3 per hour depending on the level of play. That is is the reason we agreed to up it to $4/8, that put us in the $3/hour bracket. Also, the drinks are the best in Atlantic City. Definitely try the hot chocolate.
If you are in AC it is definitely worth a visit. I don't know if they will compete with Borgata for serious poker players, especially at the higher levels, but its nice to have another choice.
looking forward to getting back to Vegas in early sept but in mean time will be in AC this weekend. Any new word on Revel-it has been a while since anyone posted. has the action picked up?
