I think what Newf is really asking is what beer he should ask for while playing?
What do you normally drink back home? If your a Blue or Molson Canadian kind of guy I'd probably just stick with Bud or maybe Heineken. I definitely prefer Blue over Bud but it's probably the closest thing. If you like beer with a little more taste you should be able to get Sam Adams or Newcastle which is ok and available at most places. I think at some places you can get Sierra Nevada which is good beer down here. Also I personally don't care for Blue Moon it's a wheat/white beer almost kind of like a hefeweizen in taste. It's very similar to Rickard's White if you've ever had that. I personally prefer a more hoppy IPA type beer.

yeah most of my drinking will be done while playing. i am however, open to trying stuff while eating somewhere. i normally drink a local beer, Cactus Lime lager...which is a hundred times better than corona or bud lime, and 1/2 the price (it's seriously so good sometimes i don't know if i should drink it or screw it). i'll probalby default to corona while playing if i don't find anything else to suit my fancy.

My personal favorite is Shiner Bock, but it is not widely avalible in Vegas for some reason...
I grew up in Austin, so I totally sympathize. I noticed Shiner IS available at Total Wine in Summerlin, but they have stores in other states as well, if you don't live here. Also sold there was Shiner Blonde and Hefeweizen, neither of which were made when I lived in Texas, but are excellent.

Shiner Bock is the best American beer made!!!!!
I have to respectfully disagree with this statement. If you're looking for good American beers, try brews from Rogue, Stone, Deshuttes, Sierra Nevada, or even Sam Adams. Outside of Texas, Shiner doesn't usually appear on anyone's top 25 list.
It's funny. I've never met anyone who lives in Texas who doesn't like Shiner, and I've never met anyone who doesn't live in Texas who does like Shiner.

I never said I liked Shiner Bock. It tastes like weak molasses. But it was huge with the college crowd who hadn't tried many beers yet and thought they were being cultured, or loyal to a local brew, or whatever. I do like their hefeweizen though, but it's hard to screw up a hefe.

I thought I saw the batsignal outside of the house, someone opened a beer thread!!!
I was certain, upon opening this thread that there would be a high-quality contribution from Minton already enclosed!
I still remember fondly Minton's progressively-drunken tweets from the all-you-can-drink-athon party events that he attended this time last year. Was that at NYNY?
Are there any similar events planned for this summer?
