I was just told on twitter that the Silverton runs $2000 guarantee tournaments on weekend nights, and on Sunday that usually results in a ~$700 overlay. I might have to check this out next trip. What would a cab cost from, say, MGM?

You heard about us on twitter???? Awesome!!!! Actually there isnt really much of an overlay in these tournaments..we have made the gurantee every night since I've been here averaging 60+ players.Thats quite an accomplishment since we do ZERO marketing as of right now
I wouldn't reach the same the conclusions he did .... If I see three players who all call every street all the way to the river with any two cards .... I don't conclude they are cheating, I conclude this is the best game ever.

Probably the part about this 'team' tipping $5-10 a hand when 'they' won?

I've never played at the Silverton, but found this room review ... intriguing.

Competition Rating: 1 Competition Description: This is where I have my biggest problem. I visited this room on a Thursday night to play a tournament. We only had 6 players so we decided to play 3-6 limit instead. About 30 mins into play 3 locals sat down. 2 girls 1 guy. This is when things got strange. Others on the post here claim of 3 people running a scam and I have found them as well. Every hand I played at this table all 3 of them were involved all the way down to the river. They wouild turn over hands like j-3 for two pair ect. On one occassion 1 of the team members made a comment and said " Fodl your hand..I got this guy" and the person that they came with folded. I brought this to management and they just amde a remark but didnt really do anythign about it. The management , on several occassions talked about how they were there all night the night before because of a "LOCALS" game. I also saw these 3 players tipping the floor and dealers very nicely. Anywhere from 5-10 dollars a pot they were involved in. If you choose to play at this place watch out for a Burnette girl , a guy named Rocky and a blonde amazonian chick. ( Trust me you will know ). I will never play here again.
I don't know what happened, but this reviewer seems way off base:
1) As psand noted, playing ATC like J3o to the river isn't collusion, it's terrible play, particularly in limit. Sounds like some bad players having a fun time ran hot. I don't see how scammers can profit from consistently playing ATC. Collusion requires someone to have a strong hand to get paid off. Junk hands miss flops far too often to make collusion profitable. Over time, this type of play is -EV, even for "scammers".
2) OK, once a friend engaged in table talk. It sounds like the manager warned the player, and it never happened again. What else can a manager do in a cash game? I don't think kicking a player out over one rules infraction--short of obvious cheating or disruptive behavior--is a smart management decision.
3) The managers were talking about a late night "locals" game. Ooooh la la. The Silverton isn't exactly a top 10 tourist room. It's going to have local players, and it's going to have regular players. So what? I run into familiar faces at the Strip poker rooms. I assume those players are friendly with the dealers and floor personnel, but that doesn't mean they get unfairly preferential treatment with respect to rulings.
4) These players tipped $5-$10 a pot? Seriously?? There is no way a group of colluding scam artists could turn a profit with $3-$5/pot in rake and jackpot drop, plus $5-$10/pot in tips, particularly at a $3/$6 LHE game. They may be regulars who like to tip well when they win. If so, they aren't scamming. If they are scam artists, they aren't tipping this much. Something is wrong with this picture.
5) Did I mention this was a $3/$6 limit game? There's no way scammers are wasting time on this game. What it sounds like is a group of friends who were playing loose, having a good time, and maybe skirting the edge of a few rules (most likely because they are goofing around, and probably a little drunk).
Obviously this reviewer had a bad experience. Most likely, he lost money and wants to blame it on something other than his own play. Maybe these three yahoos tilted him by being a little loose and goofy in their play. But I don't see any evidence of "scamming".
Anyway, I'm not saying the Silverton is or is not a good place to play, since I don't know. But I do think this review shouldn't be given much weight by those who are deciding whether to play in the room.

The previous room review for the Silverton was just brought to my attention. After reading it I find it rather humorous actually. The voice of the reviewer is that of a TOTAL NIT, and a player I would purposely try to aggravate if they were at my table. A player that complains because they get called all the way down in a LIMIT game is a FOOL. Every once in a while, when I have TMM syndrome, (too much money) I will sit in a limit game and get drunk and try to piss people off, I will tip the dealers well, and I will be there with friends. As a matter of fact, Pitts and I were trying to arrange a session just like this, but in 50c-$1 game at MGM.
It would be nice if the reviewers were weighted, so a review like that one would not be given as much credit as obviously its from a NEWB. hmmmmm(light bulb above my head) Thanks for bringing that review to my attention Rock, I wouldn't let it bother you too much, its more of a humorous read than anything else.
here's what I think you guys dont get....I was playing, I was over tipping....ME!!!! I'm the only full time floorman at the Silverton, So I KNOW FOR A FACT THERE IS NO SCAMMERS PLAYING HERE!!!!!!!

Well surely it will be offset by an equally useless review from anewbie you gives it all the highest ratings because he won there. We've all seen those reviews "This is the best room ever I won $52 and got a bonus of $100 for my straight flush (thanks to Fred who is the best dealer ever)."
funny how no one ever complains about those reviews.

Do you think OP now thinks the game was more honest knowing you were in on it?
