I fourth the motion. While I've not posted or commented on this blog I've thoroughly enjoyed reading it and very much appreciate the effort Ian has put into it.

Hi all ,

I have just read this whole blog from start to end (yep , another busy day at the office :D )-( except some of Tony's posts which to me made little sense at their best , don't mean to be disrespectful, just too honest ) and have enjoyed it very much.

I agree with the others , it'd be nice if you kept posting, but I'd like to point out that in my opinion Ian has been very careful not to show a deep insight into his poker strategy and therefore the blog goes around the grinding in Vegas with Ian's touch to it but its strategy content / discussion / debate is minimal. What I mean is that the blog is great but AVP still remains without that sort of input.

I have been thinking about the idea of writing something of the sort and come to the conclusion that I would not like to show too much how my poker brain operates for any possible fellow player to pick it up and use it against me on the felt. Am I paranoid ???

Once again, Ian , great blog , great grinding achievement, best wishes.

Ian,

As you can tell, many of us enjoy your posts. They are honest, straightforward and give us a glimpse of what it takes to be a successful player in Vegas. Please try and post when you can - where you are playing, how its going, a few interesting hands, or whatever. Personally, I wouldn't mind hearing a bit more about your online play as well.

Add me to the list of those who don't post too much but really enjoy this blog! Congrats on hitting your goal Ian, this blog is excellent and I really would like if you would be able to post occasionally like others have said. Thanks!

I'm flattered by the response. Back in May when I was regularly updating the thread I was just doing it to help keep myself motivated to play all the hours. I figured that hardly anyone was reading and that the content was probably boring. You guys have made me feel better about how I spent my time. Thanks.

As far as poker strategy goes, I tried to keep discussion of individual hands out of the thread as much as possible. Self appointing myself as a strategy guru giving unsolicited advice on how to play hands would have bordered on douchebaggery. Besides, IMO most guys who post about hands outside of strat. forums mostly use the hands as a conduit to either brag or whine about bad beats. I prefer to be more upfront with my bragging and whining, thank you. Along the way I wrote about my general approach and some very broad conceptual stuff, and if people got something out of that then I accomplished more with the blog than I had hoped. If people are really interested in strategy, you'll get more out of studying books, DVDs, and actively participating in the 2+2 strat. forums than anything I could tell you. I post in the small and mid-high full ring NL forums over there, fwiw.

Despite the well wishes, I just don't have the interest to continue on with this particular thread, but I'll still post around AVP. Frankly, stuff like what I posted about the Venetian is no different from what I'd otherwise post in the forums here.

Thanks for reading.

I hear you Ian - I thought of chronicling my own progress on here at one point, but decided the benefit was not worth the upkeep required. And as far as particular hands go, I too post them on 2p2, but even then I usually get feedback which ultimately isn't too useful.

I never noticed how unbearably boring this AVP board was without this blog being updated regularly.
At least let us know how you are doing at the 2/5 at Venetian. I am assuming that you are crushing that joint.

Nothing I've done lately is likely to relieve boredom. I put together a string of small wins at the Venetian, but I haven't played since the Series traffic died down about a week ago. I was due for a break.

The most exciting thing I've done is go to Planet Hollywood for a taping of Friday Night Fights. I had never been to a boxing match before, but it was such a great take that I'm headed out to Primm the first week of August to watch another FNF taping. None of my friends are into boxing so I'll probably have to make the trek out there by myself, but it's only $10 for a general admission ticket so what the hell. Going to a boxing match probably isn't on most people's radar, but I highly recommend it for people visiting or living in town. Besides being one of the quintessential Vegas experiences, live boxing is probably more exciting than any other live sport I've attended. Anyway, enough of the boxing ad...

I'm thinking of starting up a new challenge or blog or something. I need to play more than I have been, and updating a thread is a pretty good way to keep myself motivated. I'll probably start something up in August.

I hope you reconsider this. This is one of the few blogs anywhere online that I enjoy reading, although I don't really post a lot on blogs themselves, I have found yours very insightful and honest. I really hope it's not the last "update" on you and your play. Even though the 300 hour challenge is over, please give it more thought.

This.

I wanted to pitch in with everyone else and say that your posts have definitely made an interesting and insightful read. I'm going to be new to the live poker "scene" and just simply reading about promototions and such is a lot less revealing than reading how hard it is to take advantage of multiple promotions in a given amount of time. Plus, I thoroughly enjoy your humorous accounts of other players.

Sorry to disappoint you with the lack of nudity in my new little blog.

ps...I really can't wait to check out this Pinball Hall of Fame you mentioned at one point!!!
