Make sure you take some "before" pictures of yourself so you can compare later. As you progress, the most noticeable loss will be on your face and waist. It feels great when others start to notice and comment on it.

Just a quick update. I have been out of town and have had limited internet access. I finally did this weeks weigh in yesterday. I am down another 5 lbs. and am down 17.2 lbs for the first 3 weeks. I am still on track to meet my goal and things are going great.

Awesome job so far.

I am not quite on the pace that you are on, but I haven't even started the exercise yet.

Since the beginning of June I am down about 11 pounds currently.

Keep up the good work!!!

Well, I've been at this new challenge for 4 weeks. Things are still going great and I seem to still be on track to meet my goal of 50lbs by October 15th. Anyway on to the results...

Starting Weight 295.2

Last Week's Weight 278.0

Today's Weight 274.0

Weekly Loss 4.0

Total Loss 21.2

Still haven't had as much time as I had hoped to keep this updated. I will continue to post the results weekly at least until we leave for Disney on October 15th.

I just signed up for my first ever 5k. It is on October 29th. Hopefully the weather should be nice and cool. I am really looking forward to it, and am going to start the couch-to-5k training plan.

Some of my longer term goals are to continue the weight loss even after I hit my initial goal in October, and to run my first half marathon sometime next year. I am thinking that it will be the one here in Nashville in April. My even longer term goal would be to run in the Las Vegas Marathon in December of 2012.

Anyway, just wanted to give a quick update. Hope everyone is staying cool in this miserable summer weather.

Ok. So I suck at updating threads. Anyway, I have not stopped my challenge. I am still going. Just been super busy with school starting back up. I have also been plateauing pretty hard the last couple of weeks. I have not gained any weight back, but have pretty much stayed the same. I am trying to fight through the plateau and am going to kick the exercise and diet into the next gear and hopefully the weight will start coming off again.

I will try to start updating more frequently.

Yeah, the plateaus suck, but if you stick with it you'll get thru them. And it's a pretty good feeling when you start seeing results again. Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

I agree the plateaus suck and so does the thought of having to go back to work after 3 months off. But, I do look forward to seeing the students after the summer. It will be a new challenge this year, as after teaching 8th grade for 14 years, I am moving up to the high school. Enjoy your year. BTW I am closing in on my initial goal, 6 lbs to go.

Congratulations...I know exactly how hard it is to get the weight off and get fitter and toned up.
I have been following the Tony Ferguson diet that is monitored by my local pharmacist.
So far I have lost 11.5kg's or 25.3lbs over the past 13 weeks.
I am looking to lose another 3-5kg's before my trip to Vegas on the 27th September.....then another 5 or so before we go on X-Mas vacation.

Just some unsolicited advice that you may either heed or throw away at your discretion....drink at least 1.5 litres of water a day. This helps with keeping you feeling full and also serves to flush toxins from your body, it's most important once you start exercising to keep you hydrated. It's boring...yes...but essential.

Get in 3 sessions of 30mins exercise per week where you get your heart rate up....this can be cycling, skipping rope, brisk walking, Zumba class, swimming or doing a wii fit session. On the alternate days try to walk everywhere possible rather than drive even at a slow pace, take a yoga class or do some stretching or very light weights at home. I brought some 1/2kg weights that strap onto the wrist....while I'm watching tv...I just do some light arm exercises to tone up. Leg weights are handy as well...I got 1kg for each ankle and use them when walking the dog each afternoon.
Just remember that every little bit helps:-)
A marathon is an awesome goal....but just build up slowly, you don't want to overdo it and cause an injury that will prevent you achieving that goal:-)

Vegetables are your best friend ever....eat as many green veggies as you can....if you prefer, pop them all in a pot with some stock then boil them up and blend them to make a creamy style soup....do this once a week and you have a healthy snack available at all times.

Lay off the bread, potatoes, rice, pasta and other heavy carb items....you can indulge once a week if you really crave them....but just don't make them a daily thing.
Protein in the form of meat, chicken or fish should be kept to a 200g portion once a day. The body really doesn't require any more.
Take a multi vitamin and have a vitamin C and cinnamon tablet in the afternoon to help with cravings around 4pm.

I wish you the very best of luck. I know I am feeling much healthier and happier since losing the weight....and can only imagine I will feel even better when I buy my new fancy and very expensive jeans I plan on buying as a reward for achieving my goal.
