False Tells are an advanced concept that are often utilized in middle limit and higher limit games by players who are familiar with each others games. By definition, a false tell is just a poker tell that is done on purpose by a player to give the wrong information about the strength of their hand......

Benton,

While I am sure that this is something that is done more at middle and high stakes, it can also be really effective against pretty good players at games as low as $1-2 no limit. As you mentioned in the article the key is knowing your opponents. If you find a thinking $1-2 player, a false tell can work well on them.

ABSOLUTELY! I was generalizing but there are very good thinking players at all levels. Knowing your opponents is key.

lol i have to agree with the poster about the lower limits as well, i milk the hell out of false tells at the 1-2 and 1-3 level with good results. its important to have a read on the player you use these false tells against though and to play to the expectations/biases you feel this particular player will have to have any successful results.

Certainly a big fan of the fast call when holding a monster and having aggro players behind. Looks like you're feigning strength to keep them from calling, and inviting a squeeze.
