As I type this I am in my hotel room in the Hollywood Casino in Tunica, decided to make the journey while on a business trip to memphis, I'll hopefully squeeze in some poker, and report about the room.

The Room is smoke free and had 8 tables, it was in the way back corner of the casino, They only had one 3/6 Limit and one 1/2 NL the NL table was a $50 min and a $200 max.

They had a bounty tourney scheduled but only had 5 sign up so it didn't go, I was enjoying the "epic" buffet, it was $16.95, but did include prime rib, and king crab legs as big as my arm.

The competition was ripe for the Pickings, probably 2 decent players who I only tangled with when I had strong holdings, and twice against the big stack with the nutz.

The other 7 seats were all full of drunken ATM's it was probably one of the best tables I have ever played on.

I saw several people re buy for $100 a pop, one guy did about 9 times.

There was a 10% rake with a $4 max and $1 jackpot drop. Bad beat is Quads Beaten, both hole cards must play. They also have an Aces Cracked Promo on Wednesdays, and a Jacket is awarded for royals (I flopped the open ended straight flush/royal draw, but only ended up with the 2nd nut flush...still got paid though)

The table I was on was fairly tight, lots of limped in family pots, but somehow if you bet $10-$20 you would get anywhere from 2-6 in the pot with you, any decent sized continuation bet espically in postition would garuntee you an uncontested pot.

The room was really small and the players were all really drunk with deep pockets, seats 5,6,7,8, and 9 were all full of guys who had taken a bus to the casino and they all were toasty and full of free cash!!!

I did quite well at the table and turned my $150 into well over a rack of red, the only reason I stopped was because the table stopped, me and the two other decent players all made a killing, and we pretty much left each other alone.

The casino is rather small, the table games are fairly average, and No Pai Gow :(

The lady next to me played for about an hour longer than I did and she got a $10 food comp, for about 5 hours of play, most of the other players got somewhere between 5 and 10, I didn't since I'm leaving in 6hrs and won't be up in time for breakfast.

All in all a very juicy room, they said they spread 4/8 and higher Omaha and 1-5 Stud if they get a list, I tried to get the table to switch to HO, but the bus guys weren't having it.

I really like the room, very soft competition...and free Booze...I didn't know that this existed anywhere but vegas, but I drank my share of beer, and it was free.

Drink service was decent (sometimes she took a while but I only really waited for one), The floor was very knowledgable, answered all of my questions, and the dealers were pretty good, one new guy had one misdeal and had a hard time dealing with one of the bus drunks, but the other 3 were all great, including the best dealer I have had this side of vegas, he was very sociable, kept the table in check, and also made sure that the rules were adhered to.

Only complaints about Hollywood Casino in Tunica.

No Pai Gow, fairly loud casino noise (damn slots), and no Ipods at the table, odd rule IMO.

If you are in the area check it out, your bankroll will thank you

Chopped 1st and 2nd in their $50+20 head hunter tourney on tuesday. This is a very little room, but is well ran and the staff is really friendly.

Plus hotel rooms run from $39-59

Mississippi is awesome for poker...especially Tunica. Your post is really making me miss it living out here in LV.

Having come from Atlanta I was a regular over there at least once to twice a month, usually playing at Sams, Gold Strike or the Shoe, but occasionally Hollywood.

Soft friendly competition, amazing comps on hotel rooms & food, excellent dealers etc.

Obviously Vegas has alot more going for it overall, but from a strictly poker standpoint, Tunica can't be beat in my book.

Wow just wow....I played some 3/6 last night at Hollywood, and wow.

I have never seen a 8 way capped preflop hand before, but I have now. There were several pots with well over $200 in them, pretty damn impressive for a 3/6 table, unfortunately I was pretty much card dead, and a few others at the table sucked out more than a hoover, but hey it was fun.

Now if only I can stay away from the black jack tables...they always kick my ass
