Took a trip recently to Tunica-- May 14-17. Got two free nights at Harrahs, and one for $50. I checked out the Horseshoe, Harrahs, and Gold Strike, and clearly the Horseshoe is getting the most games going. They had about 6 games going in the evenings, whereas Harrahs and the Gold Strike had 2. Be warned, though, if you use the Bravo app on your smartphone, it shows that more games are going than there actually are. I went to Harrahs b/c my app said they had 5 games, but they only had 2. The games/wait lists were accurate at the Horseshoe. The Shoe consistently had 2-3 games of 1-3 NL going, as well as a big limit game (can't remember if it was 10-20 or 20-40), a 4-8 limit game, and a game of 5-card stud (average age of players at stud was about 75). Nightly tourneys got about 40 players. It would have cost me about $50/nt to stay at the Shoe, but it would have been worth the extra $100 given that I had to drive to-from the Harrahs hotel each day. Also played golf once at the Cottonwoods course- $59 (including cart, range balls, water)-- very nice course, worth the price.

Sounds like a fun trip. I used to work at gold strike and towards the end of my employment there games were starting to shift to the horseshoe and this was in 2009. From what I remember horeshoe had some pretty decent nightly deepstack tournaments and the cash games were pretty juicy.

What did you do at Goldstrike? I have been playing poker there at least 6 times a year since about 2005.
