Went to Blackhawk again last Saturday and played their tournament (I know, as you could assume, the structure sucked but I was craving a tournament for some reason) and some come cash games. The tournament had 26 players, $60 entry fee, and paid top 3. 1st: $780, 2nd: $420, 3rd: $200. Paying out 90% of the buyin isn't too bad. The blind structure was terrible: 25-50,50-100,100-200,400-800,800-1600,1000-2000, and then I cant remember. I placed 2nd, but honestly, once you got down to around the final 5 and the blinds being so high, it was pretty much a catching hands deal. Early on I raised 3X BB with KJ after 3 had limped in and the button called. The flop comes 4d4sJd. I bet out 3/4 the pot, he reraises all in, I instacall and he tables Qd2d and doesn't catch another one on the turn or river. Another time I had JJ against a guy who had been trying to double up and had went all in 4 out of the last 15 hands or so with no callers. He shows AK and once again the board is blank and I knock him out. Like I said earlier, there are some damn good players, some damn terrible players, and a few in between.
