I've heard bits and pieces of a casino going up in SW Ohio. This was several months ago, any more info???

I'm sure it will never happen, but there is a proposal. Here's a newspaper article on it from a while ago:

With 220,000 square feet of floor space for gambling, the casino proposed for southwestern Ohio would be larger than such well-known Las Vegas venues as Paris Las Vegas, the Luxor and the Venetian.
The Clinton County casino won’t be mistaken for any of its Las Vegas cousins, however, its chief backers said yesterday. Ohio’s only gambling resort would be built with "Midwestern sensibilities," meaning no gigantic neon signs or flashy architectural flourishes, they said.

Rick A. Lertzman and Brad A. Pressman, the Cleveland-area investors behind the latest proposal to legalize casino gambling in Ohio, unveiled their plans for a $600 million resort less than an hour from Columbus during a news conference.

They also said they will begin advertising on radio and television at the end of this month.

To place the casino on the November ballot, they need more than 400,000 valid signatures from Ohio voters by August. Lertzman and Pressman said they are ahead of schedule in collecting signatures but declined to release numbers.

They announced their effort last fall, less than a year after voters rejected the latest attempt to expand legal gambling in Ohio. A racetrack-backed plan to allow up to 31,500 slot machines at nine locations failed in November 2006 with a "no" vote of 57 percent.

As outlined yesterday, Lertzman and Pressman’s proposal differs in several key ways. It would be a single casino built from scratch, with 4,000 to 5,000 slot machines. Unlike the 2006 proposal, it would include about 100 table games and 20 poker tables.

Lertzman and Pressman also said they would include as much as 100,000 square feet of specialty retail, eight restaurants, a conference center with at least 40,000 square feet of space, a 2,500-seat theater and a 1,500-room hotel. There also are plans for a golf course and possibly an auto speedway.

Pressman said it would be the largest casino in the Midwest and the largest private investment in Ohio this decade.

Lertzman and Pressman haven’t announced the source of most of their funding, although they said they will soon. They would say only that it will be a Midwestern gambling company with a solid track record.

Yes, this will be on the ballot in Nov, but like the last two attempts this one will likely fail. Both previous attempts were not close. Why? Having lived in Ohio all my life I don't have a real good answer. All the states around Ohio except for KY have gaming. All the casinos are on the Ohio border and are filled with cars from Ohio. It is crazy. I think the key is that the govenor has to want gaming and get behind it. So far neither Rep. or Dem. govenors have supported it. Ohio sure could use the money and will eventually have gaming. We have a lottery and the govenor just approved Keno. Too much money is involved to keep it out forever. Until then, I have to drive 3 hours 1 way to Wheeling WV.

well the good news is I only have to drive 25 min to get to argosy, however, it would be nice for Ohio in general to get a nice casino of their own

No, but there are a couple of casinos in Indiana that feed off the Cinci market.
