Well, I played at the Horseshoe Hammond last Monday. I have to say that I had a great time. I played at the 1 to 2 no limit; the first hand that I played I got pocket Queens. I went all in and doubled up. My only regret is that I had to fly home early because of Hurricane Alex. If any one gets a chance to go there I highly recommend it; you will not be disappointed. The closest poker room to me is 1 1/2 hours away. I will happily drive an extra half hour to go to The Shoe, by far the best poker room in the Chicago area for cash games. I play mostly $1/2 NL, and there are always lots of tables going on weekends.
If you are going on a weekend, it is best to call in to get on the list up to an hour before you arrive since the wait can sometimes be quite long.
Update: Starting at about the time the WSOP Circuit was here in October, the poker room no longer lets you call up to one hour in advance to get on the wait list. They appear to have gotten much better at opening up new tables when the list grows, so at least I did not wait very long my last time here.
Harrah's Horseshoe Hammond poker room won't spend a dime putting ANYTHING about promotion rules, rake, time collection charges, nor charges, fees, or amount of money cut from tournament pools, in printed materials. For example, can't find a single bit of printed information on the "bad beat" deduction rules from player pots.
It is policy in that room, not to put anything in print that involves consumer money.
Plenty of materials on tournament schedules and "structures", nothing on all the deductions made as "house cuts".
Recently, some players were discussing starting a higher limit 7 Stud game. No one had played this game at a higher limit for long time, so they inquired about "time collection" charges. They had to ask three employees, before they got an answer. They were told $8 per half hour. (That may be correct.) Why isn't such information in print? Nothing in that poker room is posted or in print.
This is the very same poker room, which absolutely refuses to put a bet line on any of it's poker tables. Again, any questions, a supervisor has to be called, to make a decision on your money, when a simple bet line could circumvent / prevent the original issue.
Some of that stuff, should be addressed by Indiana Gaming Commission. But in Indiana that is the "fox watching the hen house".

Have you simply considered asking them?

Did they tell you that is the policy or did you just decide that since you cant find it it must be the policy?

Well if you keep asking them they will probably put on the sheets just so that they can stop answering you.

Why would they keep a list of charges for games they don't spread. So that someone considering playing $300-$600 badugi doesn't have to ask the manager?

.
This is a good thing. Bet lines suck.

Who did you want to make the decision? A cocktail waitress?

OK, with your "we didn't know there used to be rule books in all poker rooms act" (which included all costs associated with gaming in the room). I don't like having to ask supervisors about stuff that should be readily available to consumers. There are no reference sources for anything that occurs in that room, which gives the joint options to change things constantly and they do!
With respect to bet line. "Your cards are your bet line" rule is enforced or not enforced depending on the individual dealers attitude. You can also get screwed for some cash, depending....

I understand why you want somethings in writing but....
It is entirely possible that everything you want to know is in writing .... but since you don't want to ask for it they aren't t going to know you want to see it.
In some jurisdictions all those things you are asking about (how much is taken for the Jackpot drop, vig on tournaments etc has to be on file with the regulatory body ... which means your concerns about it just changing on a whim may be addressed already .... I have no idea how Indiana gaming regulates poker)

I have noted a bunch of suburban Illinois players have disappeared from the room. I can understand it. Horseshoe Hammond must be sending out special invites to all low life, blue eyed thugs and hoodlums. Must be recruiting jerks from that Crown Point Indiana jail.

I can tell you that a fair amount of players that used to play the Shoe are now playing at Harrah's Joliet. I will also say more good players have migrated that recreational players but Harrah's does get a very good traffic flow for the size room it is.
