HAs Palms been spreading 2/5 NL regularly as of late or are they mostly running 1/3 NL?
It depends on the guests in the hotel and who's performing there that week. I played there last Sunday and they only had 1-3 games going. There were 4-5 players there who wanted a 2-5 game, but they also wanted a 10-25 NL game, so they weren't too reliable to go by. The other thing is on Sundays during football season, whenever a team scores a touchdown or field goal, the computer draws a seat number at random. If the seat is vacant or has missed blind or absent buttons, they keep drawing. Once they draw an occupied seat, that player wins anything from $50 to $300. My seat was drawn last Sunday and I won $50. The computer actually drew my seat number twice, but you can only win once (darn it). PSand is right...the 1-3 game now has a $500 max, they upped it about 3 weeks ago.
Is this promotion paid by the room or is a drop taken?

The Palms also offers high hand jackpots, and they take a drop for that, so I'm assuming it comes out of that, I'm not certain. It could be since it only runs during pro football season, the casino pays for it. It also applies to Monday Night Football games, I've just never played there on Monday nights.

I actually played in Palms in the Summer of 2006 and they were doing the same thins with the drawings, so it may not be just during football seasons. I will be honest and say I have not played at the Palms in about a year, so things could have changed
Another promotion they run is diamond flush drawings.
Whenever you get a diamond flush on sundays through Thursday you get an entry in a drawing for the next day at 9AM (you do not need to be present at 9AM to win . . . they give you 24 hours to collect). Each day Monday through Friday 5 players are selected from the diamond flush entries earned the day before and win $100.
Palms was the one spot where the action was not happening during my December trip. I stopped by one afternoon during this past week, and they had one limit table going. I went to grab lunch after giving them my number, and came back to see 2 limit tables and no NL game going. I was on the property maybe another 30 minutes before I left and while in the ride back to TI, I got a call about a game starting up. A tip for those of you want to play NL at Palms- you may want to phone first prior to going over to the poker room.

Was this during the big cowboy/rodeo week around December 9th through 16th? The cowboys and cowgirls and their hangers on didn't exactly flock to the Palms vibe that week. Not their kind of joint. On Sunday the 9th and Monday the 10th the place was jam packed with every single table on the limit side of the room in use; then as the cowboys took over the town on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday they had no active games at all when I called in the evening.
I think there was one or possibly at one point two tables going on the NL side during the same time frame in which I saw the limit room packed on Sun/Mon just before cowboy week kicked in. I don't think I've ever noticed more than 2 NL games, but I don't often pay much attention to that side of the room when I go up there.
