Unique spot in 4k gtee

Blinds are 200/400/50. 36 of 126 remain. 18 paid.

Hero is sitting on 16.5k, been playing super tight because, conveniently, there are 3 big stacks on left (when the turny avg is 9k, go figure).

I think the other players have noticed my tightness for once, as my opens have not been contested yet.

The BB is sitting out, and I have yet to take a stab at his BB from MP. I'm dealt Ac6s and decide to take a stab at the blinds.

Big stack with 18k calls on my left. Haven't seen him play too many hands, but certainly has been more active than I have. Everyone else folds.

Flop (3200) KJ5ccx.
I c-bet 1600. V calls.

Turn 7c. Hero checks

should've bet 2300ish, but I spazzed out and checked). V bets 3200.

Hero considers that with 25k, possibly more if V pays me off (doubtful), cashing would be easy, and there isn't that much difference between 10k and 13k to me, so I call.

River 2x. Hero checks. V shoves for 11kish.

Thoughts?

And yeah, if I were reading this, I would probably say, "who cares, just fold, turny life on the line, ace high, cmon," but I think I'm having trouble adjusting the tourny players' mindsets and would like some ideas before I head out to vegas.

Weird hand. Random thoughts:

Preflop: standard

Flop: that flop hits villain's flat call range so well, that I would probably just give up. Check. See what happens. Call a small bet.

Turn: as played, as you said, fire a 2nd barrel. I don't like check/call here, I think this is the street where you should pull the trigger and shove all in, if ever.

River: as played, I have no idea. I would need ton of reads to make the call.

Tourneys in Vegas don't play anything like online ones for the most part. Below $500 buy-in you can forget about light 4-bets and opponents who know their push/folds.

Generally I just check/fold this turn.

Generally true of live tournaments, but not so much during the WSOP(even in the deepstacks at venetian). Lots of very good players are playing in any and all of those tournaments.

Okay, that's interesting and makes sense. I tend to play cash during WSOP and add in a tournament schedule during the rest of the year.
