So start to finish, I won't argue with any of your comments on how I played the hand, because I am not really happy with it. The V did something unexpected on almost every round of betting. I couldn't figure out if he really didn't know what he was doing or this was his first cash game so he didn't know how to bet.
When he fired $20 into a $25 pot on the flop I thought, he wants this hand over. I decided to smooth call and see what he did on the turn because I wasn't sure I was in the lead. On the turn when I hit my second pair, I was "sure" that I was good but his bet size stayed the same. So now my read on the flop is off. He doesn't want me going anywhere if he bet the same amount or he is really clueless on how to play a cash game. Since I was "sure" I decided that I didn't want to lose him so I made it an amount I thought he would have to call.
When he led at the river I was completely thrown off. This guy has shown strength on EVERY street, he doesn't look like he has ever played in a casino but he has obviously played the game because of the shirt. Does he really play a tournament like this? All of these thoughts were going through my head and I just couldn't figure out why he would lead into me on the river. I was so confused I said, "I play like a small child" and just put the $20 in the pot.
He turns over Q 10! So I won the pot but was TOTALLY off on my read. My guess is he is a level 0 player and I was obviously giving him credit for level 1. Good to see you guys weren't as fooled as I was, lesson learned.
I like your line of thinking, but it's possible his bet was just a blocking bet if he didn't put u on a king. If that's the case I wouldn't say he is level 0.
It is funny how we sometimes over estimate players sometimes, good poibt
