In retrospect, I should have jammed on the turn after he raised me. I just hate giving chips right back to the person you took them from. Luckily, I did wait for another spot and won a nice pot against him later in the session by letting him bet and hang himself.
Let's please not be doing stupid and insanely rude things like intentionally using 59 seconds just to teach the clock caller a lesson. If you need the 59 seconds, fine, but if you don't, act! There are 9 other people at the table and the petty squabbles between you two shouldn't be taken out on the rest of them. Anytime I see someone use 59 seconds when the clock is called on 'em, I feel like the clock caller has won the mental battle.
And all this commentary about how insanely rude it is to call a clock, and how you'd punish the clocker by repeatedly using time, what plans you'd come up with to get even with him...? All evidence you have tilt control issues. Your focus should be on this hand, and this decision. Wasting time seething inside because somebody dared to call the clock on you is doing exactly what the clocker is hoping.
Try this: When the clock is requested, apologize (and at least act like you mean it) for using so much time. And then act before all 60 seconds ticks off. You've disarmed the guy, who was almost surely using the clock call not to try to rush you, but rather to try to annoy you. When the asshats figure out you aren't annoyable, they'll probably quit trying.
Obviously this is the best way to handle the situation. I have to Say though that if the clock is called on me free only one minute I would confront the floor about not having a sufficient amount of time in the first place. If I've taken a while I always apologize to the table before the clock is called. My response was hot headed and sort of in jest and apollos advice is spot on the correct way to handle the situation in general.
