The Yappy Dave Challenge was created to follow a month long attempt to generate the $10k buy in to the WSOP main event through low limit cash games and tournaments. Last year was quite an experience as I had to learn pacing, endurance, and the feeling of being so close and then falling short, only to then get some backers helping me get into the event. This year's challenge will be similar but I have altered some of the tournaments due to last year's experience and will focus much more heavily on cash games when the games look better.

June 4 Cash games at Bellagio (cancelled)
June 5 Cash games at TI (+460, - 588. -128 overall)
June 6 Cash games at Bellagio (-1500. -1628 overall) remind you of last year?
June 7 Cash games at TI (-700, -20 (mixer), +25 (tourney). -2323 overall)
June 8 Binions $150 PLO (150ish out of 185, -150, +92 (O/8 ). -2381 overall)
June 9 Mike and Perry's Excellent Adventure (+50, +348, +102. -1881 overall)
June 10 Binions $200 NLHE (35th of 189, -210. -2091 overall)
June 11 Off
June 12 Golden Nugget $225 NLHE (3rd of 90, +1665. -426 overall)
June 13 Binions $300 NLHE (115 of 131 -310, -255, -900. -1891 overall)
June 14 AVP Meetup (-255 at cash game, 4th of 108 in tourney +270. -1876 overall)
June 15 Off
June 16 Golden Nugget $225 NLHE (32nd of 62, -235. +877 cash game -1234 overall)
June 17 Caesars Megastack NLHE $330 (45th of 350ish, -340. -500 cash game. -2074 overall)
June 18 Off
June 19 Golden Nugget $330 PLO/$160 Binions NL HE (68th of 84ish, 63rd of 247 -500 total. +792 @ Rio. -1782 overall)
June 20 Cash Games at Rio and 7 pm tourney at rio (190 of 274, -340. -800. -2922 overall)
June 21 Off
June 22 Cash Games at Rio (-600. -3522 overall)
June 23 Off
June 24 Off
June 25 Off
June 26 Golden Nugget $225 NLHE (39th of 81. -235. -3757 overall)
June 27 Off
June 28 Binions $150 NLHE/TI Headhunter/5-10 mix game (-160/-75/+132. -103 total. -3860 overall)
June 29 TI 2-5 Cash Game/TI Headhunter (-500/-125. -625 total. -4485 overall)
June 30 Golden Nugget $235 NLHE (3rd of 63. +1065. -3420 overall)
July 1 Golden Nugget $230 HORSE (3rd of 141. +2935. -485 overall)
July 2 Off
July 3 Off
July 4 Off
July 5 Off
July 6 WSOP $10000 Main Event Day D (finished with $85,875)
July 7 Off
July 8 Off
July 9 WSOP $10000 Main Event Day 2b

A quick analysis that I did was to focus on cash games during the first (kinda) and final week of the WSOP since that's when the most tournament players are in town and most of them frankly have no idea how to play a deep stacked cash game. When those players are gone, I've focused on tournaments with good structure and likely weak fields (Binions and Golden Nugget.) I stayed away from the Golden Nugget $550's because their starting stack offering isn't much better than what they offer for the $225 nor $330.

Is the July 7th Binions event a multi-day event and does it overlap with the man event at all if it does?

You mentioned in a previous post that you would decline to play in the ME given the new final table situation. Are you for certain playing then?

I said I wouldn't play in the main event if Harrah's did not pay interest to the players for that 4 month period in which they weren't getting paid.

Seems like i probably might run into you at the binions 6 max and the GN plo on the 14th and 19th respectively.

just a question, how are the cash games during wsop time...esp during weekday dave? are they still busy during those days?...is it like a typical vegas weekend? except on a wsop weekday?

The cash games are good and soft throughout the series, not just at the Rio, but all over Vegas. It's frankly THE month to build a bankroll. The best games in town are the 2/5 NL games that are at the Rio which open up right after the giant NL HE 1.5k tournies break down. They are tourney players that have no idea how to play cash games and are in tourney mode.

Happy to see this thread going, for the second year.

David, when you get the chance, please update the OP, in the first paragraph, to mention what the 10K Challenge is, the point of it, and perhaps provide a link to the one from last year. Basically, consider the OP to be written for someone who has never read your blog or the previous challenge.

Unlike the daily blog, the 10K challenge is all about poker (with a strong tournament and cash game agenda, and goal of winning a 10K buy in), and is where the Yappy Dave Dynasty started (the daily blog was spawned after the phenomenal success and interest from last years 10K challenge).

As always, best of luck in your Challenge. I look forward to following this thread through to the Main Event!

thanks for the response...also what makes you say the binions/GN tournaments are going to be softer?
