I Guess I was due for a rough night...

Got the kids all down... my wife said she was tired and that I had kid duty no matter what so don't play poker. Of course, I said got it. I'm going to play but if they wake up I got them. Well... that was almost inevitable. especially since one of the boys has been waking every night at 11 or 12. The other sleeps through the night consistently. And also one of the girls usually comes up to pee at some point. I usually end up getting them in the early hours if they wake up but my wife normally handles the 9-12 shift. So I was already gambling heavily before I even started gambling...

and things started out horrid... AK < 22 on AK2 flop , KK < JJ and set under set. it was so bad I started to take notes to make me feel better. I dug a good $200 hole and then started a comeback then the crying started. crap! Not sure how many tables I had going. Fort. volume was not that high so I think I just had 12-14 but still. I stacked every table on top and went downstairs (nice thing about using a crappy laptop) while folding. Poured a bottle... fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, raise 2/3 pot, fold, fold, fold. Grabbed a baby, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, . Changed a diaper. fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold. still changing a diaper. fold, fold, fold, fold, raise 2/3 pot, fold, fold.

anyways I def missed some spots as I had to soothe him (I think he's teething). by the time he rally calmed down i had busted out of most tourneys and had so few left it was not worth restarting the session. I finished up while he slept on my lap and then put him down. out about $120 tonight... could've been worse.

ON a happy note, our lake water has gone down and we didn't have any damage to our dock, boats, or anything. hooray!

Have rake will follow....

I just sent the following PM to all the rakeback affiliates at 2+2. Looking for the best option in case Cake doesn't pan out (as I've heard many people can't play more than 8 tables at once at Cake).

---

Hi.

I currently play on Lock Poker as "thevookenmeister". I also have an account on Carbon as "vookenmeister". I moved from Carbon to Lock poker because I received an extremely favorable inside deal on rakeback from one of the site pros. Since I usually play 14-16 tables at a time, the amount of rakeback I receive is critical to my hourly winnings.

Now that Lock is moving to Revolution I am concerned that there will not be enough volume on Revolution for me to play 14-16 tables at a time. I am also concerned that I might not like the Cake software. Thus, I am exploring my options on other Merge skins to continue playing there. My existing Carbon account has only 35% RB (thru raketherake).

I am willing to consider offers from raketherake to change my existing rakeback deal for the better or new offers from any affiliates for other merge skins like Black Chip Poker.

I typically play the highest full ring DoN structures available on Merge. That usually means a mix of $20 and $50 DoNs since the $100s don't take off very often. Sometimes I step down to the $10s but only to keep volume going. ideally I like to play 16 tables at a time. When I play I usually average about 20 tables an hour at an avg stake of appx $30 or $48 in total rake per hour (DoNs on Merge rake at 8%). I have a real full time job so usually play 2-3 hours a night about 5 days a week for a total of about 40-60 hours a month (I was in Vegas for two weeks early this May so didn't play as much). As proof of my volume, I came in 28th place last month in Lock's Rags to Riches rakeback promo.

I believe I am the major catalyst to getting the full ring highest stake DoNs going on Merge during the 9pm-midnight EST timeframe as I open reg every $20 and up table available.

If I receive a good enough rakeback deal I might stay with Merge instead of splitting my time with Cake. If I don't receive a good deal, I might play on both or only on Cake. I'm not sure yet.

You can verify my volume at sharkscope.com under the screen name "thevookenmeister" for Lock. I joined Lock in October and have quickly gone from playing 6-8 tables to 12-16 tables at once so you will notice the heavy improvement in volume.

I look forward to hearing any special offers that are not already advertised publically on your affiliate web sites.

brag post...

had an excellent weekend with the family. Lake and boats are working fine so we spent most of the weekend out on the water having fun on the jet ski and pontoon boat. We also mixed in four BBQs plus a soccer practice for the girls. It was a truly great weekend. The kids were all still asleep when I left for work this morning. They were exhausted.

on a side note, I botched my mid month calculations. I was not up as much as I thought as I failed to factor in my reload deposit (my bonus expired for Lock so I had to re-deposit some funds to reactivate it). Still having a good month hourly-wise but it's in a more reasonable range and not $70 per hour. I'm just not that good.

So it's June 1st and I have mixed news about the state of US online poker after the Revolution.

by mixed I mean for me it's good and bad. the short term is that it is very bad. I hate the new software at revolution and believe it will be very hard to multitable. I also did not see enough volume at the higher stakes SNGs to make it worth my while compared to launching Merge instead.
Long term it might be better as the owner has her Sh*t together and they are charging less rake (plus I have a better rakeback deal which I need to confirm moved over). I have a couple more grips but mostly it is the software (as shown below)

So last night instead I fired up Merge using Black Chip Poker. I was fortunate enough that I was able to negotiate a better deal than advertised by the affiliates (it pays to sell yourself sometimes) so I can still try to be a rakeback whore. VOlume was still good enough for me to play 16-18 tables. However, I had to drop down and include a bunch of $10 DoNs to do it.

so in the short term my hourly rate is going to take a big hit this month while everything sorts out. I'm hoping Revolution will start to get traffic that plays at the $100 DoNs and up. I'm confident I can play with anyone at full ring DoNs so don't mind the stakes going up. That might be a far fetched wish though.

I'm poisting a couple link updates about Revolution's new SNG and tourney structures. if you play SNGs or MTTs, you should check it out. If you don't multitable like I do then I think Revolution/Cake will be an excellent place to play as the rake is less and the structures are great.

viewtopic.php?t=17719&p=224002#p224002

some pics... first pic is the new revolution software where I can only fit 4 on a screen (I use a crappy laptop)...the 5th table overlaps despite my having it minimized as much as possible and using simple version

The second picture is how I normally stack on Merge. I could shrink the tables smaller but prefer to have 6 showing with all my extra tables stacked on top in the bottom right corner. I manually move my higher blind or higher dollar tables to individual spots (I dont use stackandtile obv).

the third picture shows how small you could shrink the merge tables if desired.

so.... please unclutter the simple version and let me shrink it. One quick idea is to take the whole chat and menu options overlay in the bottom left corner in the simple version and just remove it completely (and make it a pull tab option that you can click on to display like Merge mini does)

so even more short term bad news in the online world for me.

i hate the revolution software. i hate it so much I only played one tourney and gave up. It's too clunky and hard to multitable. some of that might be because I am not used to it. It wasn't worth my trying to get familiar since the higher stakes DoN volume was not there anyways. it's unfort. because the rake is less. So I recommend Revolution for folks that don't multitable. but for me I am going to stick on Merge in the short term.

so I fired up Black Chip thursday night and got my ass handed to me. then on friday, I managed to work another deal with another Merge skin, FeltStars. This is a good deal for me but I can't discuss details. Once I have things ironed out and tested I might be able to provide links thru a blog for others to receive solid rakeback offers on FeltStars. If i have any spare time (lol), I will be playing around with this on a side blog at blogspot.com under vookenmeister.

so on Friday and Sunday night I played on Feltstars. I lost my ass there too. horrible variance as I could see my red line stats and they actually had me slightly above break even. I can't even count the number of times I got it all in good and lost. I prob played poorly as well but who knows.

result is i am going to have to reload on FeltStars so I have enough $$ to mutlitable the $20s and up. Volume was ok for a stretch but then died at 11pm.

Here's my ugly graph. I'm going to block the stats at sharkscope now for two reasons.
1) it's embarrassing as hell (ha... not really)
2) I actually don't want the regs thinking I am a new player that suck (as I don't want people calling me light... that is hard to explain but gist is folks calling light hurts my equity and theirs and I believe people are more likely to speculate against a bad player)

anyways, I coughed up around $600 pre rakeback in two nights. that really sucked. If I was a new player it would have been enough to say online poker is rigged and quit. As usual I took some horrible beats in the $50s... it's almost comical how often this has occurred in the past few months but last weekend was the worst. granted, playing 16-18 tables I'm going to lose a bunch of ROI (and I am not perfect to begin with) but I should run better. I'm just glad I have software to prove it or it would be even more discouraging and would leave to severe second guessing.

I know what you mean about the sites being rigged somewhat, i do not believe the sites are rigged but i do believe the sites are not 100% random or even close to being random.

Oh. I think it's random. With variance you could have years of bad luck or years of good luck. I'm enduring a steak of bad luck but streaks are just fabricated stats in our mind. Each game is new and previous results have no baring on future results. However you can look back and some people will be luckier than others. At least I'm lucky in life ;)

bleh.... merge is down due to their fault software upgrade and the SNGs on the new Revolution site suck!
and I mean suck! nothing is really running higher than $15 and even the $10s and $15s barely run. plus the structures are too long so I can't get many in. I played 2 and decided it was lame and I was done. I will not be playing on Revolution until the SNGs get traffic. It does appear there is a lot of cash action but I want to play tourneys.

So Feltstars it is... when Merge fixes their software

My May stats cooled off at the end of month. My actual stats are at work but I averaged around $32 an hour over 35-40 hours or something like that. not sure exact details because I switched to HEM2 which is deficient in easily tracking $$ like HEM (or I am clueless)

SO I am stuck using new tracking software and got moved to a site with crappy software and action. Not happy.

On agood note, I got a tip from a friend on a good cash transfer deal that saved me $200 vs deposting more on Feltstars. I now have enough of a roll on FeltStars to comfortably multitable again. My hourly will def drop as stakes and volume have dropped slightly. oh well.

im confused as to how 30-40% rakeback is considered a good deal, most deals are way higher if they cannot be mentioned publicly. wouldnt lock/cake work out great for me then since i dont multitable?
