Hey Glenn,

Nice seeing you again this last trip. I ended up chopping the Friday 1 PM tourney, which was nice. Was down to 2500 chips at 200-400 blinds, and was chip leader by the final table, lol.
Looking at coming back in late October for a 4-5 day trip.

Cheers,

TF

This past weekend I played in the monthly $10K guarantee tournament they held at Santa Fe Station. They had 120 entries and I went deep as discussed in my latest video ...

Another weekend, another tournament ...

This weekend I stayed close to home on Saturday, playing at my neighborhood room, Aliante Station. For the last month or so, their Saturday evening tournament has been upped to a $100 buy in. I've played a couple of times on the first Saturday of the month when they do not take any juice out of the entry fee and put all but the $10 "dealer appreciation" fee in the prize pool, but this is the first time I've played it on a night they were raking. I'd been told by folks in the room that they'd been drawing 3-4 tables, but that night they only got 14 entries. Who says they don't offer 6-max live anywhere?! Regardless, I like playing in the room, the staff is good and nobody there puts my brain too much to the test so it is reasonably relaxing to play ...

Thanks for the input Glenn, I am putting out a survey for players to see if they would prefer going to 30 minute levels and adding a few blind levels in the middle/late middle. Please stop by and fill one out, as well, if anyone has suggestions on ways to improve the tournament (including promotions) please include that.

Thanks,
David Scarano

Ok Glenn,
Based on your latest Santa Fe video:

We are changing the structure to 30 minutes as well as adding some levels to the middle and mid late rounds. A lot of players perfered the 30minutes to 40, and there were multiple "complaints" (for lack of a better word) about the big jumps in the structure. An example of the big jumps and the changes:

1000-2000
2000-4000
3000-6000
5000-10000
8000-16000
10000-20000

New structure:
1000-2000
1500-3000
2000-4000
3000-6000
4000-8000
6000-12000
8000-16000
10000-20000

Please let me know what you think. The next 10k event is 10/8 at noon.

Thanks,
David Scarano

I imagine everyone has heard about the great tournament we had at MGM this last weekend. I got some video footage which is up for everyone to see. Special thanks to AVPer Minton for going around and getting footage of people while I was playing. He's a good cameraman!

Now if you haven't heard the latest news, MGM is giving all people who played in the AVP tournament rakeback via comp dollars if you enter any of the remaining events in the Grand Series. Because, you know, not charging us rake in one tournament wasn't enough! Full details regarding that offer can be found here. I posted awhile ago in the MGM thread with regard to how their recent change to their daily tournament structure provided a greatly improved value and now we have another example of MGM finding ways to get value back to the players. Thanks again to Rob Moore and all the staff at MGM for their efforts!

Thanks for the video Glenn. Great work as always (and great work to Minton, also).
