Can someone tell me the best way to get to the hoover dam? I will have a rental and would like to see it while I am out there this time. I plan on going on Tuesday, July 10th. Any tips on what to do/see on the way or while we are there would be appreciated.
The little exhibit for the water district (?) is pretty blah, you can skip it.
Check out the Tillman bridge, maybe even walk across it.
We stopped at one of the casinos outside of town on the way to the bridge. It is a bit of a reminder of what Vegas used to be like but otherwise nothing special.

When we went, I think we got there around 10:30 or 11AM, mid summer and it was fairly crowded, but not terrible. When we left, the line of cars was long at security. Of course the bridge wasn't open yet, so traffic across the dam was a lot heavier.
I think the best way out there from the strip is take I-15 to the beltway east, then US 93 (aka Great Basin Highway) south through Boulder City. And the bridge would definitely be worth a stop.

Parking garage opens at 8am. Visitor center at 9am. First powerplant tour is at 9:25am, first dam tour is at 9:30am. That's when I would be there if I was going.
