Imma gettin' itchy for the (likely) epic IMOP trip report. I read all the Twitter posts, so now I'm just waiting for the TR to fill in the blanks.

Is it really necessary for me to pay over $300 in taxes for a domestic flight and rental car to take the wife/kids on vacation for a few days?
Some of those are probably disguised as "fees", so they can still advertise the low rate. But to answer your question: Yes. Otherwise, they probably go out of business.

SPAM!!!!! I logged on to All Vegas Poker today and there is over 50 spam messages on here.. Why is this an ongoing problem? I never see this on the other sites that I visit everyday. Is it just that AVP isn't trying to stop it or just don't care? I really liked this site when I first joined but now it seems to be a Spam paradise.

This is a long-standing question. IIRC, they tried to do something about it (pre-approving members?) but it didn't work out. To be fair, they're usually pretty quick at wiping out the offending messages.
My favourite part of today's spam attack was that the spammer forgot to include a link for his/her/its website. Maybe they were just trying to get up to 50 posts to join the AVP Home Game on Stars? Hmmmmmmmmm.....

My cousin just finished the Boston Marathon in 3:28. I'm a runner, regularly between 6-9 miles, and can't imagine what my body would feel like after 26.2. Nicely done!

Great stuff! I can't ever fathom why I would put myself through the torture of running a marathon, personally, but that sounds pretty much the same sort of time that I would clock ...... assuming that 3:28 is recorded as days:hours.
For the past 4+ years I have been playing 1/2NL in a home game twice a week. I have been doing well, averaging $32 per hour over that time. As I am one of those put on the sidelines by the economy for the past 2 years I keep asking myself, could I survive on poker until the economy comes back? On my two previous trips to Vegas I didn't do so well, but that was three years ago. Could I be ready now to be a poker player? Many have tried and failed, but some have succeeded.
I guess I will find out soon. I have booked my third trip to Vegas. I am filled with nervous anticipation. What will I discover about my abilities?

My son used to be a sprinter during high school, running 100/200 meters. He didn't even like doing the 400. Now, a few years later, he is telling me he wants to do the Vancouver Marathon in a couple of weeks. Crazy kid. I got my stretcher ready

LOL, well played. A guy at work also remarked that he's not sure he could do that time on a bike.

Huge difference, shorter sprints vs. long-distance stuff, but good luck to him. There are some great marathon training program outlines out there, that if followed closely could work well for him.
