Its interesting to remember that craigslist is a San Francisco born phenomena. Bay Area people are odd. We swap houses with people we just met, and even get in stranger's cars as part of the "casual car-pool" movement.
Craigslist and freecycle have netted me a job, car, vacation rental, kitchen floor tile, and the Waldorf Astoria recipe for Red Velvet Cake. How can you put a price on that?
In general I am a full-on Craigslist fan.

Craigslist is the bomb. Ive found tenants for my rental property, sold my rims, got a hooker, bought a cell phone, sold three x-box 360's when they were the craze, sold a ps3 for a hefty markup, and found some great odd jobs as well as a professional gig IM currently at.
There are many scams on CL and thats a shame. Caveat Emptor
