I haven't played at Binions in almost 9 months. Does anyone know if they are still doing that "Triple the highhand jackpot" after midnight? That promotion is SO [CENSORED] SWEET!!. I play so many hours that I flop/turn/river quads-or-higher almost every night.. but barely ever get paid off due to everyone not connecting on what is one the board. One week I ended up losing all my big pots but still was up 2k due to the highhand promotion. There is no doubt that Binions is my favorite room due to those great promos + $2 and hour comps. Anyone know if the dealer Gil still works there? That guy is my favorite dealer in all of vegas.

As a retired dealer, I worked at Binions when the world series had 512 entries in 2000. I saw the $600,000 hand. AK (cloutier) against A9 (Ferguson) nine on the river. Chris Ferguson beat T.J. Cloutier. Ferguson won $1.5 million and T.J took $896,500. Now about the comps. $2 per hour is great for playing poker. High hands are offered and strong Football Promos. What can I say this is a place I play more than any. good dealers good service the manager a first class guy along with the rest of the staff. I like the turn out on the 5k sat & sun tournament give them a try I think you will like it too..........

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I want to make a correction to the 2:00PM tournament info that's listed here at AVP.
I played in this tournament twice last week. Everything listed is correct except that now, for an additional $5 add-on (for the dealers), you get an extra $5,000 in chips.
So for $105 you get $20,000 in starting chips, and 30 minute levels starting at the fourth level. I don't know what can beat that.
Didn't see much cash action those two days, and the tournaments had only one and two tables the days I played, respectively, but I'm told the weekends get a lot more runners.
What the [censored] can Binions do to attract more players? I absolutely hate how this room is almost empty and frequently goes dark. This is possibly the best poker room in town, and it is a damn shame that no one plays there no more. Some rooms have a mixture of bad dealers and good dealers, but at Binions every single dealer is excellent. It's like a time warp back to the Old Las Vegas when the mob used to run the joints. When you come to Binions, everyone remembers your name, they treat you like a VIP, and they comp you generously. If you play on the strip u get barely anything back in return and the promos are overrated.

Binions is my first port of call on Friday 25th November for the 100 dollar tourny for both my wife and I. I gotta tell you I got the shivers as a poker player (but also a nostalga freak) when I called in last visit. Problem was with some friends who were humouring me with a trip downtown and they couldnt wait to get back to the strip or 'where it is at' as they said..so no poker played. We have got 4 nights downtown and then move to the strip. i intend to play in Binions as often as I can for that 4 days. I will give the GN a visit just to see but its the birthplace of poker for me.
I think downtown has a charm - its just different and I like the cheap gambling also re Blackjack etc. I think i have the right plan splitting between the 2 locations...
