My next trip is at the end of August. I'll be curious to stop by Excal at that time to see if their 3/6 decision has lasted and if so, how busy they are.

Played here last night from 8:30-11:30pm. One 1/3NL game and two 3/6L games. The limit games were hanging around 8 or 9 handed most of the time from what I could see. When I left they were combining tables. The 1/3 game stayed full with a list the whole time. Some people were obviously uncomfortable at the table and some left quickly. Others just stayed and donked off their money. I think it was because it was playing a little bigger than the 1/2 usually did in this room. 13-18 preflop and flop bets were good sized also. It was a very juicy game. Not unusual to see pots over $100. We'll see if it holds up.

I just played here and they were spreading 2-4LHE on July 25. When we came back the next day, they had a 2-4LHE interest list going and started the game when they had enough dealers. The management was a bit disorganized though and there were 3 folks who it appeared were all trying to do the same job, but none really took control. When asking to start the game it took a few minutes to actually write our names down.
Played in the dubiously named "strip poker" tournament on the saturday night with some friends (not my idea)
While an amusing time was had by all the standard of play was shockingly poor.
Ok now I know this is a tourist game aimed at those out for a laugh rather than a serious tournemant but as 1st place was paying $950 i'd expected the standard of play to be a little better.
So it's a fun little tournament but don't expect anything like a sensible game.
For the record I went out before the break when my A 10 was beaten by an A7 who hit a 7.
I've played at the Excalibur and for entry level games it is probably just as good as anyplace else. Don't worry about being embarrassed, just tell the dealer that you're new at poker and they will help you, and be sure to tip a buck or two if/when you win a pot.
Where are you staying? If your hotel has a poker room you can just as easily play limit or low limit there. Good luck and have a good time.

I’ll stay at Vegas again 23rd-28th Jan. and will play at Excalibur… …in my medieval costume (if they let me ). It’s a 50 bugs bet with a friend. So, watch out for a brown wool hood and you got me. (maybe in the early morning, my preferred Excalibur time)

LOL - oh they will let you. Watch out, they might bring the people out with cameras for some pics.

Does Excalibur have any royal flush prize money? 4 of a kind? thanks MT
Yep, you get to spin the wheel, which has lots of $25 spots and a couple $100, as I recall. But you only need one card in your hand to complete quads or SF. Don't spin it too hard or you'll be there all night waiting for it to stop. It's like a perpetual motion machine.
