I will be staying at the Bellagio in early October and plan on playing a fgair amount of poker there. I consider myself to be a fairly good player as Ive been playing for the better part of 10 years, and averaging about 30 hours per week for the last 3 years. I noticed that the 2-5 game only has a max buy in of $500and found this to be rather low. My question is why do they only have it set at $500??

It used to be $200. They switched it to $500 long before Aria and Venetian made playing that limit a different game. It must work considering they get multiple 5-10 NL tables where the max buy-in is $1,500.
I think Bellagio sets the caps with the intention of keeping the games from overlapping too much. $200 on 1/2. $500 on 2/5. $1500 on 5/10. That creates pretty clear upgrade paths and encourages players to move up rather than just buying in for more at the same limit. Seems to work for 'em. If you don't like the 2/5 cap, play the 5/10.

WOW I am amazed. Id be better off putting $100 on black at the roulette wheel but knowing my luck it would come up single 0.Dont get me wrong I like the fact that its only a $500 cap as it makes it easier for weaker players to get into the game and therefore gives me a better shot at making more $$$. I know plenty of people at my local casino who regularly play 1-2 and start with 200, they build there stack up to 600 and transfer to the 2-5 game and proceed to lose it all.Its just not as intimidating seeing a player with 500 as it is with a player who has $1000 in front of him.

It is rare that you are in game where all the stacks are $500 or less at Bellagio, unless it is a new table. IS it as deep as the Venetian, Aria, or the Wynn- I am guessing not, but you have plenty of room to move....
